Not sure if anyone folks recall me, I've been gone for a while.
I recently started rereading the old classic FR novels, specifically the two Moonshae trilogies. In both of these the sahuaghin of the Trackless Sea, specifically the city of Kressilac, and the scrags of the Coral Kingdom, play a big role.
These guys should be involved/connected to the sahuaghin in the Threat from the Sea novels. Does anyone know if the novels bothered to pay attention to each other at all, or was this another case of FR novelists ignoring the world they were writing in?

No, it isn't funny, just simple logic. Either the "Threat from the Sea" novelist paid attention to previous novels like The Coral Kingdom and mentioned it or he ignored it.
As for why he ignored it, whether he wasn't aware of it at all or just didn't bother mentioning it, who cares? Whichever reason still leaves disconnected Realms novels despite similar subjects and geographic proximity.

| As I recall, the Threat From the Sea books started in the Sea of Fallen Stars, and only made that one brief foray to the Sword Coast. They just didn't get to the Moonshaes or the Coral Kingdom area. It's not shoddy workmanship to not make a connection between geographically separated elements. It would have been shoddier to have forced a connection, there, I think. |

| My memory is a bit fuzzy, but I think it was the other way around. The "Threat of the Sea" novels first started in the Sword Coast area and then ended up in the Sea of Fallen Stars. |

And the first has a very large, 'big deal' sahuaghin raid on Waterdeep. And we are supposed to see raids all up and down the Sword Coast through the year.
I'm just rereading the second set of Moonshae novels, including The Coral Kingdom, and its obviously two very large kingdoms of sahuaghin and scrags. This is definitely my least favorite bit of the pre-Schend/Boyd Realms, poor consistency. |
