I asked a long while back on the Wizards novels board and you suggested that you might be thinking of penning more of Jack's adventures.
Has your forthcoming trilogy derailed that? Or are there future plans for the suave one?

Sorry, no current plans for another Jack Ravenwild story. I'd like to revisit Jack at some point in the future, but Wizards has to decide they want another Jack Ravenwild story first. It won't be anytime in the next 18-24 months, anyway (got the Last Mythal to write first).

| Uhhhh, as someone who's been slaving for days to write a stupid 10 page story for my college English class, I don't think we're in a position to say he should be done yet. I shudder at the thought of having to write novel-length and -quality in the timeframe these men and women have to (uh, which is how long, out of curiosity?). |
Doggedly converting 3e back to what D&D should be...
Sigh... And now 4e as well. |

For me, from the time I got the outline approved to my deadline for first draft, it's about 9 months. |

I shoot for a pace of about 5,000 words a week when I'm in "draft-writing" mode. So, a book of about 90,000 words takes roughly 4-5 months. To get my 5k a week, I put in a couple of hours a night maybe 3 times a week, plus a couple of sessions over the weekend, so maybe 10 to 15 hours a week. Doesn't sound like that much, but I have a day job, too.
Of course, this doesn't account for outlining, research, second drafts, reviewing galleys, etc.

Nothing mysterious here. "Galleys" are print-outs of a manuscript after it comes back from typesetting (which, of course, comes after editing). Authors normally get one last look at a book before it's really, truly final. Hopefully, in galleys you're only fixing typos or spelling mistakes. On occasion, you might read a line of dialogue and think, "Gah, the editor butchered that, I want to change a couple of words to make it read right." As long as those changes are pretty minor, you can make 'em.

| Thanks for the Jack feedback. I'll sit and wait for his further exploits - I seem to remember you saying that you would like to see him try and cope with adventures outside his usual haunts. Would you have to write him in a prequel due to his powerful nature by the end of City of Ravens? |
