A while back I asked for everyone's top five excluding Salvatore (since I've pretty much read all of his :)) and am now in the process of reading like a mad cow.

So far I've read Daughter of the Drow, Making of a Mage and currently finishing up Elminster in Myth Drannor. So it looks like I'm hooked on both those authors. I never realized how great the Starlight & Shadows Trilogy is! Now playing catch up....
I really like Greenwoods writing style, for some I hear its not the greatest but for me it really brings home the flavor and atmosphere of the Realms. So anyhoo, thanks all and keep those titles comin'

If you're looking for more Realms flavour and atmosphere, be sure to read Ed of the Greenwood's The Temptation of Elminster. That singular book provides a fine slice of nice and warm Realms-flavour...

You should try the 'new' Sembia series and it's spinoffs. They are fantastic (IMO).

Listen to Adrian Moonbow. Find The Halls of Stormweather, the first Sembia novel and enjoy. This anthology introduces you to the family detailed in the rest of the Sembia series and features stories by such Realms authors as Ed Greenwood, Clayton Emery, Lisa Smedman, Dave Gorss, Voronica Whitney-Robinson, Richard Lee Byers, and Paul Kemp. A wonderful series that I think is a great starting point for any individuals new to the Realms.
