The Encounters season following Crystal Shard will be Scourge of the Sword Coast.

wizards.com/wpn/Events/Scheduling.aspx?category=dungeonsdragons

I wonder if this is a third in a trilogy or just a standalone adventure?

(I really do wish someone here would reorganise the forums to make a bit more sense and avoid unnecessary overlap. This could easily go in General FR or RPG News & Releases or probably one or two other forums.)

Cheers

Read an interview somewhere that they had 5 Sundering adventures planned.

*shrug* Open the topic where you think it's appropriate, and if the moderators feel strongly enough to move it somewhere else then so be it. If more than one area of the forum sounds right, pick one. In any case, people will see the new topic regardless of which section of the forum it's put in. This was more of an issue on the FR mailing list, with its small army of keywords and custom subscriptions, but it's simpler here. As long as you pick an interesting title line, we'll probably click on it. I even click on things that don't sound interesting, every couple of days. I imagine most of us do. While the OCD part of my brain agrees that every topic should have one place to go and every scroll should be in its proper cubbyhole, this forum is quite a bit easier to use than a paper library is. And it'd be pretty easy to argue that it would actually become harder for many to use correctly if there were one proper area for each topic.

If you were talking about the non-forums articles on Candlekeep, well... that's a bigger hill of beans. But I'm happy to see Sage and Wooly have time to participate in the discussions, and I'd like to see Alaundo more often. The forum is working pretty well, imo, the occasional gremlins and the wishlist for 2.0 notwithstanding.

Happy Halloween early. Now that this statement has been issued, you can start eating candy 4 weeks in advance. Bon appetit!

Also: I have no idea about the Scourge of the Sword Coast. I'm just hoping that it'll use D&D Next rules and that I'll get out to see some of it this season.

/ramble.

Me too.

Now I'm wondering if they are linked in a way that the same set of characters could be used in all of them.

Legacy is a 1-3rd level adventure so, i'm guessing not, would be good to see some level variability though.

The information page for Scourge of the Sword Coast (Link) is up on the Wizards site. Looks like we're headed back to Daggerford and this may have some connectivity with Ghosts of Dragonspear Castle.

Included in the WotC page was the link for this related Product Solicitation (Link) to game & hobby stores.

Based on this info, some bloggers (such as Dungeon's Master) noted a difference with this Encounters module from the prior entries in the Sundering series. It seems Scourge of the Sword Coast will be electronic format only. There is mention of PDFs sold at dndclassics.com, but nothing on the print version of the module available for purchase as with the first two Sundering modules.

I hope this is not true and a print version will be released. It was looking like these modules would offer an alternative to the Pathfinder Modules.

In this ICv2 article, it is reported that "retailers that run Scourge of the Sword Coast will receive, along with the Game Day materials, instructions on how to download the adventure at no charge."

I am stunned (save ends).

That is actually a smart move by WotC. It seems they are learning.

This is a great little sandbox adventure with five distinct "dungeons" that will go well with Ghosts of Dragonspear Castle.

And the best thing? Mike Schley has done another excellent regional map. Check it out: http://my-realms.blogspot.com/2014/02/scourge-of-sword-coast-0-not-quite.html

I've posted a larger version of the regional map at the same link. It's 4545 x 6209 and 6000 dpi. It rocks.

Just a preliminary glance at it before I get into the real meat of the thing: Despite having a 'The Sundering' logo on the front page, this adventure seems to have nothing to do with that event (although Gorm Gulthyn is referenced heavily). The art is good, especially the maps, but it also includes the most mannish-looking succubus I've ever seen. There's some lore but not nearly as much as I'd like.

I'm reserving judgement for now but I hope Dead in Thay is a dramatic improvement.

Edit: Oh and there's no 3.5 or even 4e stats, it's all 5th edition now. Kind of a kick in the nads to anyone who wanted to use the same characters that they did for Ghosts and didn't use 5e.

When life turns it's back on you...sneak attack for extra damage.

Not really for 4E DMs. It would take barely an hour to replace the Next stat blocks with 4E stat blocks.
