Well, today is that day -- THE GODBORN hits shelves. Elements of this story have been bouncing around in my brain for the last five years.
If you read it, I sincerely hope you enjoy. :-)

Well, the book releases todau unless you live in Europe. :(
Can't wait for it to arrive though. |

| I forgot how much I'd missed Riven. I know he's not really a guy to say that sort of thing about, but man do I love that character. Not too far into the book yet, but I'll probably finish it by Thursday (inconvinently, today is also the same day there is new raid content in Star Wars the Old Republic and I've got some healing to do). |

Bought!
Now I need to decide, when to best start reading. There must not be any interruptions by living beings after starting to read!
Plus it got a map as an eBook! Does anyone know, how to zoom in on Kindle? |

I enjoy writing about all my characters, but the Riven scenes in THE GODBORN were my favorite to write. And he utters my favorite line of the novel (I won't write it here for fear of spoilers). |

Hey Paul....hope the sales are brisk!
Our friend The Sage needs the number of chapters and if there is a prologue, epilogue, etc.....so he can open scrolls for your book in the bookclub. |

I'm going from the last draft I saw (I don't have author copies yet) but I think it's accurate: Prologue, 15 chapters, Epilogue. |

One of the best books i've ever read, Mr Kemp. Really affected me. Especially the scenes where the Oracle reflects on his Papa and life.
One question though. Is Cale still a Chosen of (new Incarnation) Mask? |

| Bought my copy yesterday. However, won't start into it (as much as I want to) until I'm done with the Erevis Cale trilogy and Shadowrealm (if I can find it). |

I'm about a third of the way in, and I'm LOVING it. Everything is perfect: the tone, the characters, the brothers Zeeahd and Sayeed, the deep connections to history and your prior novels, and -especially- the scenes with the Fairelm farmers. I can't even begin to tell you how much I love you for including Elle, Gerak and the rest in Fairelm.
Some questions: (spoilerized) can you tell us what Lahni morphed into?
And also: roughly, where is Fairelm placed in Sembia?
Thank you for another FANTASTIC novel!

I'm so pleased to hear your enjoying, Therise. I hope you dig it all the way through. As for the questions:
I didn't have a particular monster/creature in mind, beyond some kind of polluted, horribly mutated aberration. ?
As for question two:
Here again, I'm going to be kind of vague because I didn't have one of the new maps on which to place it -- northernish Sembia, roughly midway between the Thunder Peaks and the Dales. I know that's not very specific. Sorry about that.

Just finished it late last night. I couldn't put it down. I loved how everything came together and ... wow, what a great ending! I was a little surprised about Riven, but it made a lot of sense. Any chance of a trilogy to follow this?
PS: thanks for the answers! I'm glad there's some uncertainty with both.

| Got it today in the mail from the esigning. Anyone know if the ebook includes the map? I know The Companions was missing the map. |

| No, but the map is the exact same map as the Companions. I'm betting we don't see the 5e map till at least the The Reaver and maybe not till The Herald. |

Now in chapter 2. I must say I'm both thrilled and apprehensive to pick this up. Four years (nearing five) of waiting is a test of patience. And it's inevitable that some readers (including yours truly) can't help but expect a lot from this book.
So far so good. I didn't see it coming that the Source would be in such predicament. Though, given the 5E general spoiler that Shade would be de-powered considerably, I guess I shouldn't be surprised if Sakkors falls from the sky toward the end of this book. |
Every beginning has an end. |

Utterly loved it.
Without any kind of spoilers, a very tight knit personal story that I enjoyed throughout.
I realize I should savor and enjoy, but I'd rather bask in what I've had. Great read! |

I'd bet the interior cover maps remain the same throughout all 6 books. |

Finished it on the weekend. A Really great book. A few notes:
I wish there would have been more of Riven, not even the fighting, just the way he speaks and interacts with the other characters.
Excited to see where the story goes from here, will Vasen and Cale stay together?
Loved Riven given his Girls to Gerak...choked me up a bit and totally dig the cold hearted killer having a soft spot for his dogs.
I liked the addition of Gerak and his story arc....I saw it coming a ways off and did not like it one bit, but I guess that was the point and PSK did a great job of building it up so it wasn't just another NPC death.
I would love to know how much of this book was already written and how much had to be reworked because of the Sundering, or if it was just tweaked to fit? Did Paul have a contingency plan in place to bring back Mask or Cale all along, like RAS did with Iruladoon?
I really liked how a couple high level characters, Brennus and Rivalen actually died in this book. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy as hell Cale is back, but it is nice when there seems to be some consequences once in a while...makes the Realms less...Marvel Universe.
Vasen was a cool character, I liked the juxtaposition for his nature and Faith and how it was worked into a believable concept. I do think though that Paladin/Cleric types are still not nearly as interesting to read about as shades of grey characters like Cale and Riven.
Orsin is another great character and I really want to know more about his reincarnations.
When is the next one? Godborn was amazing, but so much of it was spent introducing and developing new characters(nicely done btw), setting up the Sundering, and regrouping loose ends, that the next book should be able to get right into a new plot! |
