Sarkun was a commander in Bahamut's army. Followers of Bahamut and some of the other goodly deities went to war over the birth of a child they believe to be the chosen of Tiamat. Some think the child should be killed immediately, while others are appalled at their fellow goodly gods. Sarkun's seen these knights, clerics, and paladins of the gods taking part in the usuals of war: firing, looting, raping. He finally abdicates his position and comes across a castle.

There, Sarkun has learned that Tiamat has claimed his soul. She needs him to reacquire a macguffin that one of her ex-paladins is questing for. This ex-paladin hopes to overthrow Tiamat and enslave feykind for his Mengeleian research. So Sarkun's on the tail of this ex-paladin, and encountering others who have been affected by his time as a commander in Bahamut's army.

Me? Nothing.

My players? 3 campaigns, depending on who shows up to play (all 3.5).

1 - Campaign set in Amn, 1375: the players helped destroy the Sythillisian Empire, made a trip to Maztica to fight against Nexal and are currently getting entangled in the politics of Amn and the Southern Sword Coast. This are just the highlights, it's a long campaign still going on, they have gone from level 1 to level 17.

2 - Campaign set in Calimshan, 1375: the players work for a rich merchant family and will have troubles with the Knight of the Shield, Twisted Rune, Rundeen and other parties. We did just five play sessions and the players have gone from level 1 to 3.

3 - Campaign set in Mulhorand (for now), 1375: the players are members of a mercenary company, fleeing the Thayan front (long story). We did two play sessions and the players are level 2 now.

As you can imagine from what i've wrote, my home Realms are very different from canon Realms (with events starting to go in different directions since 1373 DR).

In the game I'm running (2e, 1360 DR), my players are riding out into the Backlands in the hopes of ambushing a group of returning Cyricist treasure hunters. They're currently discovering just how monster-haunted the Backlands are...

Doggedly converting 3e back to what D&D should be...
Sigh... And now 4e as well.

ATM? Nothing... I am on break since school started (waiting for my kids to adjust to their new schedules, plus one went home to his mom's), and I've been super-busy with work.

Planning on starting back up very soon - looking forward to it. When last we left them, the group was exploring The North and checking out some rumors about werewolves. I run a very 'sandbox' style of game.

I'll be play-testing the D&Dn rules this weekend with my two younger sons only, but haven't even looked at the adventure yet.

I changed 8 words on a partially written FR short story that I started years ago for the heck of it.

In the last 5 minutes - thanks to Erin Evans - I might have found a neat solution to an FR conundrum that I'd been wrestling with for about 3 years now.

Last week I came up with another idea for one of the swords that are part of Soargar's Legacy: Lyrithil "the Bladebane".

I've also been pondering on the history of Vaasa and when I'm on holidays next week should have a chance to write something up in my thread.

Oh, and I just put my hard-earned down for a copy of "Godborn". In Paul Kemp we trust.

Yeah, now that I finally have a tablet, I have to start buying E-books like crazy. Godborn is a good start - Paul Kemp is da MAN. (and maybe something by that 'DeBie' fella).

I'm DMing a 3.5 campaign in the Silver Marches. My group started out in Silverymoon. My group is a druid (my wife's first PC), a hobgobiln rogue (my old PC reprised), and a mercenary/meat head fighter named Farl. We explored a dungeon in the High Forest for Xara in Silverymoon and lived to return. We've made quite a name for ourselves guarding caravans between Everlund and Silverymoon, at least one teamster has died every trip out. One was eaten by werewolves, though we one the battle.

Right now, lycans are slaughtering people near the Moonwood, and the druidic circle of the moonwood is about to mount a campaign to root the People of the Black Blood out of the Moonwood. My group will be the tip of the spear. The other story arc right now is that the druid doesn't know who her parents are/were, well her father was a lycan hunting ranger near silverymoon, but now he's a lycan himself and a member of the People of the Black Blood. She has a major shock coming.

Meanwhile we've met up with an obese wizard by the name of Armundus Delune Bucknard, reknowned sage, scholar, and master of magical might (in his own mind). I have created and based this character off of "Comic Book Guy" from The Simpsons. Should lead to some good times.

Lately I've done very little Realms-wise, other than to add a new write up to my War Wizards scroll.

Previously I'd been working over at Loremaster.org to build up their Realms Lexicon and contribue to their Realmslore section, but I haven't done much with either in awhile.

With a baby on the way and an evening work schedule, it's been impossible to run a campaign. I miss the last Realms game I ran too. It was a lot of fun to run my players through Sagekeep, where time sometimes flows differently.

Look for me and my content at EN World (user name: sanishiver).

This year I have been mostly

1 - DMing my own conversion of the Night Below boxed set placed in The Savage Frontier.
2 - Finishing writing up book 2 of my conversion of the Night Below boxed set as the players are now venturing into the Underdark.
3 - Collecting all the sourcebook material for Vaasa, Damara, Narfell, and Impiltur as well as all the juices bits of lore found on this wonderful site.
4 - Rewriting Vaasa.
5 - Consolidating my ideas on how to rewrite certain novel based events into my Realms campaigns. eg; Return of the Archwizards, The Bhaalspawn saga, The Rage of Dragons.
6 - Collecting all sourcebook lore into word documents ordered by location (eg Cormyr, Dalelands, Anauroch etc), settlements, deities, NPCs, and events. And then cross linking everything so I have all information I will ever need at my fingertips in an easily searchable format.

Im so glad i have a desk job where i can do all this stuff at work.

DMing a game in which my players, who live in Daggerford, just returned from Avernus (through a portal in Dragonspear Castle) after rescuing a jewel that was donated to Lathander's church, and that was stolen by a devil disguised as a mage - they haven't discovered it, though, and the devil escaped. They were helping a paladin friend, and soon they will fight their 1st true dragon, but I think they will clash with some ogres or trolls before that... Maybe exploring Undermountain for the 1st time.

As for me, I'm working on revisions in 2e for skinwalker druids, bladesinger and bladesong rules, elven archers, and a version of the spellarcher (a kit for half-elf archer fighter/mages from a Dragon magazine) I've called "arcane archer" after the 3e prestige class. Maybe I will retake working on my adaptation of martial arts in my homebrew Oriental Adventures 2e in Kara-Tur.

EDIT: Only to mention, my caimpaign runs in early Eleasias 1368 DR - we just played the priestess' birthday -, and 2e rules.

Running a campaign in Chondath, in which the PCs work for a cleric of Waukeen, and come under the knowledge that 2 sects of Bane worshippers have begun to war here for the general purpose of using some fell magic to bring Bane in all actuality through a portal to the Realms using the Hand of Bane from the avatar that was destroyed in the ToT.

Lots of intrigue in Arrabar and Reth as to whom may have alliances with the Baneites, as well as much going on with the fractured nature of the nation with no cities willing to work with or aid the others; but the PCs are working to pull it together.

Obviously, much of my homebrewed work; as it's 1373, and it picks up after the last 2 campaigns I and my friend have run. So, this Realms is affected by our RSE's, not WotC. ;)

I'm running a 4E campaign in Neverwinter using the fantastic Neverwinter Campaign Setting. It's so nice using maps for the 4E Realms that weren't painted with a dirty baby's bum.... Once that's finished, the same players - but different characters - will be stopping a new Zhent plot in Shadowdale. And a drow plot. And then a Zhent plot again.

I'm also preparing a new 4E campaign for new players that will be set in the Earthspur Mountains of Impiltur. I've adapted Fallcrest from the 4E DMG to the Realms largely because I love the map. Although it's 4E, it draws a lot on classic 1E and 2E adventures.

Cheers

I've been thinking about getting the city and regional maps printed on a large tarpaulin which I can have done really cheaply where I live. (There are some advantages to living in the Third World.)

I've been getting prepared for a FR campaign my DM's been working on. I've also got about two dozen fanfics in various stages of completion scattered about my house (I prefer to write my rough drafts by hand), all focusing on the character I played in my last FR campaign, Drustan Dwnhaedan (Hmm, maybe I should have chosen a different username to avoid confusion...), or one of his offspring (usually his second-born daughter, Qiluna, or his human great-grandson*, Tave Vurren). Currently, Drustan is trying to come to terms with the fact that he has become something of a manipulative bastard who's only concerned with what fits his own opinion of what's 'right' and 'just' (he used to accuse Khelben and Elminster of doing this all the time). Drustan has also (reluctantly) allied with an insane Spellscarred former cleric of Mystra turned warlock named Gannon Torvos in an attempt to wipe out the Shadovar, although Mystra's return might just restore Gannon's sanity (which would be of considerable relief to Drustan, who only agreed to aide the deranged warlock in order to protect the people he cares about ).

*Drustan was a bit... wild 100+ years ago when he first started adventuring, and he keeps running into adventurers who are descended from him.

My wizard found an old diary in The Ladys Academy in Silverrymoon which hinted at the fact that the whole Mulhorand pantheon thing was wrong. That something had been kept secret for all these long years. Being a wizard and basically interested in everything ancient he began investigating this. This led to a great expedition into Mulhorand and Thay where we had some great archeological digs. After more than a year of expedition we found an abandon and buried city. Where a massive library, containing text on The Crown Wars, Imaskar, Netheril... My wizard almost had a heart attack, when he found genuine ancient texts. This further led him to another dig sight, where a old cleric lich presided as a guardian of sorts of some ancient weapons used by the gods in the war against the Imaskar... Now after completing a task for the cleric, who was bound never to leave e sanctity of that place, I now wait for the opportunity to study these ancient artifacts, and perhaps this will mean the re-discovery of some of the ancient magical traditions of the Imaskar or something even beyond that. Oh yeah.., my wizard is currently training 4 apprentices who have been with him on this mission.

Even though my character is level 30 and I've been playing this guy from level 1 starting in 2002, I have never had so much fun as now!

Oh yeah... Im also DM'ing a level 8 party where I have just run them through Barrow of the Forgotten KIng and the sinister Spire... We will soone begin the fortress of the yuan-ti. The party concist of a conjurer, malconvoker theres a figher/rogue/archer , a dread necromancer and a specialized sorcerer(homebrew)

Both games are set in 3.5 around 1380

My players are currently in the process of carving out a trade route with axe, spell, and mining pick. The dwarves are going to find some parts for a dwarven war machine, a "grinder" in the next adventure. It should make for some fun times at the local goblin enclave when the dwarves move in to finally evict the monsters. hehehe. Once the monsters are eradicated they're going to reclaim a fallen outpost in the area to secure this section of the trade route.

I love dwarven war machines. Can't wait to introduce the dwarven version of a napalm flame thrower type machine.

Currently, Sarkun has fled into the Bloodstone Lands to escape some of the people who suffered collateral damage during his tenure as a servant of Bahamut:

Kaila, a devotee to Talona and member of the Citadel of Assassins. She is one of the people that was swept up into an army Sarkun built through his skills as a demagogue. She saw honest people throwing themselves at the monks of the Monastery of the Yellow Rose while Sarkun led a team into the depths of the Monastery, seeking out a Zhengyian relic. Kaila's using Sarkun's manipulation of the Bloodstone Lands' civilians as an excuse to lead a team of assassins after him. Kaila wants to put a stop to Sarkun's research into blood magic; it would make magic too readily available to the common man. Or so Kaila believes...Sarkun may be using that as a smokescreen to hide the endgame of his quest.

Benaik: A soldier who reveres Gareth Dragonsbane; he believes that absolute Law is something to be cherished. It is hard to blame Benaik, as his rough life led him to hero worship as a means of escape. Benaik is not above harming others to see evil-doers brought to justice. Innocents who're killed in Benaik's pursuit of justice are commended to a god created by Benaik; this god is made up from the various tennets of the other lawful good gods. Benaik tried to stop Sarkun from sending the peasantry of the Bloodstone Lands against the Monastery of the Yellow Rose, and was defeated by his own sense of honor.

Sarkun's parting words were far worse than defeat. He told Benaik that he could sympathize with him; Sarkun said that he and Benaik essentially follow the same code for different gods. When Benaik looked on the butchery left on Sarkun's wake, he vowed to bring Sarkun to justice. Gareth Dragonsbane wouldn't have any of it; he wanted to rebuild the Bloodstone Lands. Benaik came to believe that Sarkun had enchanted Gareth, or had left behind a homunculus disguised as Gareth. Thus Benaik began gathering warriors in secret to hunt down Sarkun. Currently, he is considering an abduction of the "false" Gareth (who is, in fact, the real Gareth. Benaik's just deluded).

Running a slow paced Play By Post game with Zhentil Keep as the central city...just got started back.

Trying to find time and concentration to finish "The Five Shires" project that I started forever ago set north of Turmish on the shores of the Gulthmere Forest.

Tooling around trying to compile my new Campaign World which contains Faerun (with Evermeet, Zhakara and the Hordelands, but nothing else), Greyhawk (where the Paynim tribes meld into the Hordelands) and New Empyrea (from Egg of the Phoenix) which blends in with the Birthright setting (including Rich Baker's version of Aduria to the south), Ansalon from Dragonlance (without Taladas), the Chaeldain Isles (a home creation of mine from way back that has much to do with ancient Greece and Persia) and my World of Aerk material. My PbP game is set in this new campaign world.

Here and there I'm also working on a "The Ride" project that I started research into a LONG time ago...but it is taking a decidedly non-canon turn on several fronts. While I eventually plan to share it, I'll be sure to make it clear it isn't all canon...though it blends nicely I must say.

I'm banging around the idea inside my head of presenting my write up of the "Magic of the Zhentarim" that I'm currently using in my game. But if I do that, a couple of my gamers would have inside info!

Long ago I promised some more fiction on Aerik Bandaerson, aka Aerik "Stormraven" and his adventures after leaving the Zhentilar which include storming into The Citadel of the Raven to take down some Zhentarim which earned him his nickname...but I'll save that until later since Aerik is currently an NPC that my party is interacting with in my game.

I've written in the past about a battle between Dalor Darden against an ancient Blue Dragon in the Shaar; but I have more stories I just need to type up. There is one between him and some Red Wizards that I may write up next.

Mostly, I've considered joining back into Dazzlerdal's awesome game...but with work days that run from 12-14 hours right now; I'm just too dang tired! Kaern the Mountain Orc is always in my thoughts though!

The Old Grey Box and AD&D for me!

Running a 4e FR campaign wherein the 16th level characters are about to try and contain a waking primordial. A certain devil-controlled dwarf pulled a certain lever in fabled Gauntlgrym, and now the heroes have to split the party and send SOME of the group to distract a far-too-powerful creature while the rest of them try to reactivate the magical containment field. It's pretty crazy/awesome.

My Backdrop: Westgate article is on the schedule for Dragon any day now (see this thread).

No fiction currently, because WotC is still tunnel-visioned on the Sundering project, and I've got plenty of my own non-Realms stuff to do.

I cant believe I got a mention on here. I had to advance Kaern to level 3 to keep him in line with the rest of the party. Even if you cant make it back he will be leading a charge of 50 orcish mercenaries at the end of chapter 2 in a climatic battle scene I am still busy planning.

Hopefully it will involve an erupting volcano, a nazgul lord style commander and plenty of fighting against orogs, orcs, giants, quaggoths, duergar, and a whole host of other nasties.

My FR campaign has been on hiatus since 2009, so not much. My fiancee is running a PBEM set in Waterdeep though but I'm not involved beyond having my source books pilfered.

I am mentally mapping out a shipping container style fortress/safe haven for a Pathfinder based zombie apocalypse game I might run though. Mind you, I've been 'might running' that for four years.

Benaik ran into a team of genasi rogues who want Gareth Dragonsbane dead. Apparently he has been sending orcs and half-orcs in slaving runs into genasi territory; Dragonsbane's sorcerer-scientists have been using the genasi's elemental magic as a focus for their development of gunpowder.

It's been about four weeks since my group last played, but we've run a long-lasting (25-years IRL!) game with a LOT of divergence from canon events and "known facts" about the published Realms. We started in the early 1340s DR and have progressed into the 1360s, but no ToT happened (and there's no AO, no Abeir, lots of differences like that). Some material from 2E and 3E has been imported, but a good portion has not.

At the moment, I'm gearing up to start a new campaign with our players creating all new 1st-lvl characters. Not entirely sure what area to focus on or a primary theme yet. I'm leaning toward a highly political campaign starting in Athkatla.

Female, 40-year DM of a homebrew-evolved 1E Realms, including a few added tidbits of 2E and 3E lore; played originally in AD&D, then in Rolemaster. Be a DM for your kids and grandkids, gaming is excellent for families!
