I was discussing dream homes over lunch, the kind of place with all the best custom amenities you would personally love - where cost is no object. And for some reason the Realms popped into my head.
So if you were an epic PC in the Realms, powerful and extremely wealthy, what kind of dream home, tower, castle, deep-forge, complex, etc. would you build for yourself?
Let's say cost, labor, magic, are really no problem - but you do logically have to fit it into whatever community, city, or other location you choose (i.e. no leveling Waterdeep, or gutting Westgate). Any edition / era is allowed, and you can invent a community for your home as long as it makes sense for the region.
Who is your homeowner / epic PC? What would you build, where and why? Who would be your servants, if any? How would your home fit in to the community? Is it lavish? Would it have special features?

I'm running a scan of my computer now to see if anything is amiss.
My scan came up negative. Dunno what your virus protection is coming up with. Sorry if it caused any problems. |

Dalor Darden (1e Stats) NE Shade Illusionist/Wizard
Has a dimensional pocket-plane which only has entrance through the Obsidian Spire (a massive tower looking complex that I blatantly stole from the Dungeons and Dragons Cartoon: the Tower of the Celestials...but made of Obsidian). It is built on the north face of the North Wall of Halruaa. There wasn't Shadow Magic back in the day; so he wanted to be close to a group of wizards with like minded attitudes...but outside their kingdom technically. Struck a deal to allow his tower there in trade for favors to the ruler of Halruaa.
His servants were the Trogor...a race of specially bred giant-kin bred from Orog, Troll and Ogre-Magi. They policed the exterior domain he claimed from their deep lairs in the mountain as well as serving within the Spire.

I guess the "building castles in the air" was a bit too expected - I was going there myself.
As for the trojan, my computer loaded it fine (and I have several layers of redundant protection).
Once in a blue moon my own DeviantART site sends up one of those flags - I think it has to do with the random ads that appear (so those big sites should REALLY be more careful about what their advertisers upload!) |

She's not epic, but one of my Lords of Waterdeep has a second home that's on the sea floor a few miles off the coast of Waterdeep. It's a spelljammer -- specifically, a turtleship. They redid the interior to make it homey, added some magical protections, sank it, and used more magic to encourage coral to grow on the outer hull.
Magic keeps the air inside refreshed and gives them one-way windows. And they use magic to get in and out, too. |

Actually, I didn't want to use it in the air (although now that we have the land motes I could see building it on one of those). I've just always been fond of that map.
