Seriously, it'd be nice if Ms. Cunningham and Mr. Salvatore dropped by. For one thing, the latter could settle once and for all my argument on the order of the Drizzt books. |

Mr. Salvatore has a site with a sizeable message board as well. You could go there: www.rasalvatore.com to see if there is an answer to satisfy your argument on the order of the books. Of couse, if you already know of this site and are staying true to Candlekeep by not visiting other boards....good for you. <Starts to hum, Spandau Ballet's True>. |

<In Croc Hunter voice> Crikey mates! Look what we have here. It's the Kameron M. Franklin species. Now, I want you to take a look at this. As a new WOTC author, you'll see Kameron spreading his wings testing them before taking flight. This is a dangerous time for young KMF as other predators have been known to lurk about ready to pounce on a fledgling before he can learn to exist on his own.<end Croc Hunter Voice>
Yes, he is the Maiden of Pain contest winner. Congrats to him followed of course by the inevitable, why are you here and not writing? |

Yeah, I'm the Maiden of Pain guy. And I am writing! How do you think I typed this message?
Seriously, I am working on the book. No, really. Hey, what's the whip for? Why would I need . . . oh. OH! I assure you, that's really not necessary.

Who's Richard Lee Byers?
Seriously, I'll shut up down so Mr. Byers can give us full details and/or a full outline on the The Year of Rogue Dragons' books that he will be authoring starting with The Rage in April. |

Thank you for the kind words, Rad. Full details and a full outline, Sirius? Happy to oblige: There's this nobleman who runs into three witches, see, and they prophesy that he'll rise in the feudal hierarchy until he ultimately becomes king of the realm. So, egged on by his ambitious wife, he starts murdering the nobles who rank above him... Oh, wait, sorry, that's the plot of Macbeth. Sometimes I confuse myself with Shakespeare. The really sad thing about it is that I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who does. With regard to The Year of Rogue Dragons, should I repeat the hints I gave on the WotC board? Guess it couldn't hurt. This is the next so-called "Realms-Shaking Event." Although set in the FR "present" (1373 DR), the plot involves a primordial mystery as well as a full-blown Rage of Dragons. We'll be visiting some part of the Realms that have been underexposed in the novels in recent years (in some cases, I think they may even be virgin territory) and using some character races and prestige classes that are similarly underexposed. There's a showdown with a legendary archvillain in the offing, as well as a whole lotta dragons. So I hope everyone will check it out. |

I still say its Damara/Vaasa (the sample chapter is set around there)
That Horde of Dragons sittting on the ruins of the Witch Kings castle in Vaasa has got to be suffering from a serious case of piles, theyve been sitting on theose cold rocks for almost 15 years.
Given the likely location, I suspect the Legendary Arch villain will be Tiamat, theres an outside chance it could be Orcus.
If it is Damara theres only 2 storys that I know of that have been set there both by RAS and they where short stories |

Shakespeare? Did he write anything important?
Thank you for the details about the upcoming trilogy.
You wouldn't perchance also know the color of the dragon seen on the cover of the first novel? The cover is set at night, so I'm having a bit of difficulty in judging the mighty creature's color. |

The artists and I didn't speak, and I haven't seen the painting in any format except what you've seen, so I really don't know. My guess is that it's a black, but it's only a guess. |

I'm guessing a red. It is breathing fire and you can just see hints of red scales on the head. Not to mention that Blacks tend to hang out in swamps and similar climes as opposed to mountains and ice caverns. |

Well, I just signed up too. My first Forgotten Realms novel will come out in precisely two years, but I had short stories in the last anthology and the next one, and also wrote one of the Dungeons and Dragons novels. I'd be happy to answer any questions. |

Welcome to Candlekeep, Murray
Which novel is it that youre writing for release in two years? So youre also writing a short story in Realms of Dragons?
I havent read any of the D&D novels yet (I assume you mean the T.H.Lain ones?) but I do own them all and intend to read them once my FR backlog has cleared up a bit more Which one did you write? |

I'm writing the third novel in the Fighters series. Those who liked my short story in Realms of Shadow will be pleased to know that it concerns the same characters I wrote about there, the Thunderbeast tribe of Uthgardt. And yes, I will have a story in Realms of the Dragons. I reached way back and found myself a mercury dragon.
My T.H. Lain novel was Plague of Ice. Let me know what you think when you get to it. |

Wow, the THIRD novel in the series!? Whats the title? Where is the novel based? What are the other novels called and who are the authors? So many questions Id never actually heard of the Fighter series before you mentioned it....although I DID expect it to follow the Rogues and Priests series anyway
Strange to have a Fighters series though, after all, dont all novels contain a fighter of sorts? |

The title of one of them has already been announced on wizards.com -- it's Master of Chains, by Jess Lebow. Mine will probably be called Son of Thunder. I also know the name of the first one, though I don't know who's writing it. I won't say the name, but I will say that there will be many of you who will jump for joy at hearing it. I know I did.
My book will be set exactly where you'd expect to find Uthgardt, in the North. More I won't say, except that I'll drop in on several spots that are well-established but have never appeared in a novel before. And several old friends will be among the villains. |
