Hello, guys!

I'm creating a background for a rogue character that I'll start to play this week, and since the campaign will be placed at Waterdeep, I thought "why not create a Shadow Thief character?". But I'm one of those geek guys who likes to keep his characters background as close to the cannon lore as possible. But there is one information that I can't find anywhere: how does the hierarchy of the Shadow Thieves works? What are the "titles"? Responsabilities?

Diggin' on the internet I just found about Grandmaster of Shadows, the Shadow Council (formed by 8 called Shades), Cloakmasters and Silhouettes of Shadows, nothing below that. Is there anywhere that I could find info about the lower titles of the Shadow Thieves?

Many thanks!

You need Cloak And Dagger. The shadow thieves are one of the organizations detailed in that book. Also refer to Lands Of Intrigue, City Of Splendors, Calimport, FR Campaign Setting, Waterdeep & The North, and possibly Volo's Guide to Baldur's Gate (not sure on that one).

Thinking back, I don't think there are titles below Silhouette.. though there are multiple of those. Like Silhouette of Assassins, etc. The lower levels are divided by what they do - assassins, burglars, etc. without title.

Someone else might know better than I, but are the Shadow Thieves back in Waterdeep now? I know they all got booted at some point (though that might be interesting too - being the low level Shadow Thief charged with getting a foothold in the City of Splendors) :D

Took a look on all those books, Masked Mage... nothing found below Silhouette. But I'll adapt, thanks for the info!

How low level members call eachother depends on the local 'cant'. Footpad is common thieves cant for a new member of a thief guild. They are further devided into bobs (talents), bubbers (tavern pickpockets), glaziers (break-in burglars), colts (those who aid escapes), gallows birds (street pickpockets), and a host of other names. Look here for more examples for specific names for thieves jobs.
