Hi, folks,

Thought I'd share a map I've been working up for my N5 Under Illefarn campaign. This map encompasses the region between Daggerford and Dragonspear Castle. It's done in the style of the OGB maps, with a hex overlay (similar to Judges Guild's Wilderlands maps) for local-scale hexcrawls. Sources referred to for this include the OGB, N5 (for the settlements, campsites, and especially the local trail system), Volo's Guide to the Sword Coast (checked against N5 for settlement sizes), and Ed's "Welcome to Waterdeep" article in Dragon #128 (for the Selpir creek and marsh).

I've made efforts to reconcile the OGB map and the local map from N5, with some minor deviations to keep roads and rivers running through hexes (no more than a mile or two in any one direction, really). The coastline has been "randomized" to add coves and peninsulas, as befits the zoomed-in scale. The scale is 6 miles per hex (this matches the hex overlay sheets included in the AD&D boxed sets). The mountains are matched up with the map in N5, and the "3-headed mountain" referenced in that module is in hex 2603. The settlement symbols are "H" for hamlets, "T" for thorps, and "C" for campsites.

FYI, this is created from all freely available resources using Adobe Photoshop - no copyrighted material is included, here.

Let me know if this is useful to you, 'Keepers. I had fun making it. (Download link after my sig.)

Very nice - I love the 'old school' look and feel.

I love this, especially from a DMs point of view! I can map out much more easily where encounters might take place, where creatures lair (as well as where they may move about in search of food and treasure!) and many other options!

Thanks so much for this!

Glad you guys are enjoying it. There should be more forthcoming, depending on where the campaign goes from here - the party is likely gonna delve into Illefarn for the first time tonight, which should take at least a few sessions to explore, and from there I have a feeling they'll end up wintering in Waterdeep (the better to explore Undermountain, of course). So I'll probably be making similar maps of the regions to the north and northwest of this one, next.

Update: I'm moving the coastal cliffs closer to the shoreline to match up with an "Ed's answers" thread describing the area. I may also move some of the northern trails to match the map in the "The North" box. I'll post an updated version when I'm done.
