why is being a wizard like being a drow? both are likely to find a dagger in the back from a rival or one looking to further his own goals, fame and power

I can't answer your question... but why 'thrice-damned"? |

The Vale is pretty cool. |
"These things also I have observed: that knowledge of our world is to be nurtured like a precious flower, for it is the most precious thing we have. Wherefore guard the word written and heed words unwritten and set them down ere they fade . . . Learn then, well, the arts of reading, writing, and listening true, and they will lead you to the greatest art of all: understanding." Alaundo of Candlekeep |

I liked that book (a lot), there's plenty of lore included with the creatures and NPCs and my last scenario, set in Kalton Manor and its surroundings, used creatures almost exclusively from it. Thankfully the party had the good sense to stay clear of Shadowmire in the Witchlight Fens. |

It's exactly for this reason that I've been desperately hoping my local store will still restock this particular product, since I missed picking it up on it's initial release. |

You may have noticed, Matt, that not only am I fan of Nentir Vale, but I am a huge advocate of shoe-horning it into the 5e Realms. I'd prefer it up in Delimbyr Vale (its a perfect fit), but it could work down by the Border Kingdoms (theoretically 5e's "start area").
Most of the fluff can be adapted to the 5e Realms as well - in my Delimbyr conversion, Netheril was the fallen empire, but Jhaamdath or some-such can also work. In fact, considering the large gaps in 4e lore, if they were to move the timeline forward even more, the 4e core 'non-setting' can all be used in FR. |
