No canon AFAIK
I'd just call it 'The First Age'

Before Ice Age...there was Water Age!
Seriously, though, this could be a good one for Ed. You might want to drop by his thread. |

Hi all,
I'm starting to get back into the Realms again after a few years away from it, and skimming through my copy of Grand History, I noticed that it starts with the end of the great ice age and the sketchy rise of the Creator Races. Is there any canon information or informed speculation about what was going on before that? What, if anything, do we know about the ice age and whatever preceded it?
It was cold, very cold. |

That's just what they want you to think!
Hey, it's pretty difficult to have an ice age when it's not cold! |

And Toril was dominated by huge furred (wooly?) mammals... Most people think they are all extinct, but maybe one or another persists in another place, maybe even in another crystal sphere... |

In fact, you're quite right Dennis. The ice age itself was known as the Shadow Epoch, a period of global glaciation precipitated by Dendar the Night Serpent devouring Toril's sun.
Prior to the Shadow Epoch, much of the world was covered in water. The dominant civilizations during the Blue Age were peopled by progenitor Batrachi and aboleths. |

This Blue Age reminds me of Dark Sun's prehistory as I dimly recall it. Didn't they have a watery world in the beginning, too, and then the halflings did something weird to create a more typical green planet?
As for Faerun's Blue Age, hm. I think you could fit humans into there, on some small level. Fantasy caveman island dwellers worshipping Selune and Shar (and a few other primordial deities - Mystra in whatever incarnation she had back then, Chauntea, a sun god, and a death god, perhaps?) |

Well, Dark Sun is just Faerūn's distant future. They have a 'Tyr' region afterall. jk, of course. |

Interesting. I suppose Auril dreams of the day when she can reset the time back to Ice Age. |

So long as there's cannibalistic halflings in Toril's future... I'll be happy. |

I've always been tempted to adapt the Jerren from 3e's Book of Vile Darkness for the Realms.

Oh lord. Where? In the shadows of Westgate, scurrying about, ever-ready to take a bite of flesh from your heels? |

Well, it's said that Westgate's sewers are home to horrible monsters and nefarious critters.
Cannibalistic blood-lusting halflings could find purchase there. |

Those pesky halfling vermin are already dangerous, likely to steal your dagger then throw it into your back. Not as bad as kender, but not too far off. |
