Could be interesting depending on the era. If this is "Elminster's FR as of the OGB (or around)" then I am game. If it is "Elminster's FR as of 14xx" count me out. |

I think I'm buying this no matter what era. Although I'd be MUCH more happy if it's OGB era! |

Hm. If this is at all like the project Jorkens proposed, I will love it. |

I'm intrigued by this news, but I need to see more information before I can make a definitive call on whether or not I'll buy it. |

This looks interesting... but I'd like to know more first, as I'm with Apex as far as its usefulness to me is concerned. At any rate, it's the first WotC product I've seen since the 4E core rulebooks that I've been interested in, and my interest in 4E didn't last that long. And I, too, would like to see a cover image... although I know from past experience that such things tend to change between initial announcement and release; the cover of the GHotR is just one example. |
Playing in the Realms since the Old Grey Box (1987)... and *still* having fun with material published before 2008, despite the NDA'd lore.

Where's that quote from, Sage? I can't find an OP in this scroll; is that all Matt had to say? And if he was referring to those of us who had posted in this scroll, then I'm definitely optimistic... but I won't speculate on content until I see a more detailed preview; I've about given up on the Cormyr Lineage, and I don't want to get my hopes up again until I have proof.
Edit: Either way, it's going to be a long nine months... and the third trimester is apparently the worst, from what I've heard from my friends who have kids. |

As Wooly said, Matt accidently posted a new topic, rather than replying to this existing one.
I've transferred the quote as per his request.

It could be that Matt can't share all that much about the book just yet. Or, maybe, he's not even all that aware of it's full content. |

I hope Candlekeep continues to be the friendly forum of fellow Realms-lovers that it has always been, as we all go through this together. If you don’t want to move to the “new” Realms, that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with either you or the “old” Realms. Goodness knows Candlekeep, and the hearts of its scribes, are both big enough to accommodate both. If we want them to be. (Strikes dramatic pose, raises sword to gleam in the sunset, and hopes breeches won’t fall down.) Enough for now. The Realms lives! I have spoken! Ale and light wines half price, served by a smiling Storm Silverhand fetchingly clad in thigh-high boots and naught else! Ahem . . So saith Ed. <snip> love to all, THO

I really have no problems with who is working at WotC right now. From the current DDI articles I think this current WotC crew and freelancers are doing a great job. |

Now I have to buy 2. One to sit and look beautiful and one to read/flip through until the pages disintegrate in my hands. Please fill it with art and maps and lore. Please. Pretty pretty please. |

Interesting. Coming out when it does, this strikes me as less than a new campaign setting book and more as a special supplement. It doesn't feel like a 4E standard supplement, as it's not region-specific, but almost an addendum.
If it's some kind of multi-edition overview, I'm not quite sure how I'd feel about that. It might be my litmus test on whether or not I start buying Realms materials again. If it's super-heavy on 4E Realms or is a "continuation" with minor fixes and lore additions to "smooth things out", I can't see myself investing in it. If it takes a bold step and diverges 4E Realms into its own separate timeline (or completely divests the Realms of the 4E period), I'd probably buy it sight-unseen just as a show of support.

Having given this some thought (and some wishful thinking), I could easily see this as somewhat of a rehash of the OGB (but obviously with more/different/original details). It will come out not too long after WoTC re-releases the 1st Edition trio of Gygaxian bibles, so what better time to get back to the Realms as Greenwood meant it to be. |

Wow, I haven't been here in AGES!
If you see a gentleman called "The Sage", give him my best regards! :)
Judging from the earlier releases for FR... Could it be an update of Elminster's Ecologies to 4e?
It didn't feel so much as if people at Wizbro were interested - or allowed - to do "Old" Realms. |

What Seravin said, and if it is filled with maps and lore that are of use to me (that is, at least mostly pre-Spellplague), I'll buy at least one copy, very likely two, and possibly three.

Yeah. What Therise said, although, with respect to the multi-edition overview, if it contains a whole bunch of previously unpublished pre-Spellplague lore, I'm okay (in fact, I'm delighted) with that. But I suspect Therise will be too... just a guess based on an impression I've acquired.
Anyway, I'm trying very hard to stop speculating on the 5E Realms; I'm hoping we'll get some more information about this title soon, but not so soon that we still have to wait forever to get our greedy little Smeagol-hands on our preciousss... |
