Im interested in information about the old empires of the western heartlands, there is very little written about them from what I know but i've heard rumors of some old supplements that concern Illefarn and Phalorn.
The Empire of man is also very interesting but i've never heard of a supplement that describe this empire. But there could be some author that has produced a book that describes it with some detail.

If you know anything about the above empires and other old fallen ones in the Western Heartlands please drop a note.
The campaign im currently working on needs this information desperatly.

Well,

Besides the module that Hymn mentioned, here's a little more information to get you started -

Illefarn
This was a contemporary and 'survivor-state' of Netheril. It was renowned as a kingdom of elves and dwarves which occupied vast reaches of the Northern Realms, including the site that would later become Waterdeep. The Undermountain was also part of the Illefarn Empire.

By 'Empire of Man', I assume you mean 'Kingdom of Man'.

The Kingdom of Man
This was a human led realm located in the North, existing in the wake of Illefarn. The KoM originally hoped to preserve the ancient glories and triumphs of the Illefarn Empire, and included a vast collection of humans, dwarves and, elves. It did not last though, the realm collapsed after only two (human) generations. It is also sometimes known as the Fallen Kingdom.

Phalorn
I have very little information on the realm of Phalorn that is of an official nature...everything I have is what I have created myself to represent that ancient land, and will therefore be of no use to you.

As for other ancient kingdoms, if you care to be a little more specific, I'll see what I have here. I'm also sending you some additional useful 'ancient empires' information that will prove useful for your campaign.

Thanks for the information Myth and Sage of Perth, this seems to confirm what I already thought. There is virtually nothing written about The Kingdom of Man, Phalorm and Illefarn.
Under Illefarm seems to mostly concern the dwarves and their kingdom "under Illefarn" (dhu! shouldnt I have assumed that already with that title? oh well...)

If you have any info on how the empires fell please post a line or two, from what I can find most of them have fallen due to increased orc and goblin activity (which seems pretty odd to mighty empires such as these.)

But if there is nothing written I will simply write my own history (which is actually more fun :), but if there is something written that I dont know if I dont really want to mess it up, rewriting history is not something that should be done lightly.

Well, I followed officially published information (what little there is of it) on the 'Fall' of both the Kingdom of Man, and Illefarn, but Phalorn, as I said previously was detailed by my own hand.

In my FR campaign, Phalorn 'officially' ceased to exist (or rather collapsed) after the War of the Three Crowns. The entire conflict between the Humans, Dwarves, and Elves was secretly orchestrated by an unusual alliance of Drow and Night Hags bent on securing slaves and material to finance and support their own secret war against a Kaorti incursion which was occuring in the Underdark at the same time. The Drow, with the help of their Night Hag allies, simply heightened the tensions and racial disharmony that existed between the three founding races of Phalorn (that's why the realm only lasted one century), bringing about it's end before any true bonds of friendship and racial camaraderie could be forged between the three races.

I'll email you some other details I used on the other two realms as well.

For a look at what a bygone kingdom in the Realms could be fleshed out as, I recommend Ed Greenwood's article on Athalantar: the Realm of the Stag King. Featured in Dragon Magazine.
Without access to my own shelves of tomes I can't be more specific about the source (as in, which Dragon etc.)but if you'd like I can get back to you on this.

But the dead dragons shall rule the world entire..."

This has been one of the foci of George Krashos's Realms work, including his North Timeline (updated version forthcoming) and the unpublished Fallen Kingdom notes by Ed Greenwood and Eric Boyd.

The Athalantar article is in Dragon #228. More relevant to the Fallen Kingdom are the "Adventures of Volo" pieces on the House of Stone (#273) and the Crumbling Stair (#275).

virtually nothing written
Be careful: Ed has written far more about the Realms than has been published.

There is also a fair amount of interesting 'Athalantar' background information available on Myth-Drannor.net's Athalantar section.

Enjoy...
