I really enjoyed Eric's work over the years. Yet he seems to have disappearred off the Forgotten Realms map.
There's no relevant update on his website either ....

I don't believe he is all that active with the official Realms. Though I'd imagine he's still chatting/swapping ideas with the Lorelords of the previous editions of the FORGOTTEN REALMS.
I'll note, also, that he hasn't been active here at Candlekeep since late 2007. |

Yup, sadly I can't recall seeing anything by him since a Pathfinder article (I think it was the one about the Shoanti, in one of the Curse of the Crimson Throne volumes. A real pity for the RPG-industry, if you ask me. |
There is a rumour going around that I have found god. I think is unlikely because I have enough difficulty finding my keys, and there is empirical evidence that they exist. Terry Pratchett |

Eric contributed to the "People of the Storval Plateau" article in A History of Ashes from June 2008.

Boyd did some awesome work, and hopefully will do more in the future.
Authors have come back from a profoundly long hiatus in the past though. Colin McComb who did a lot of 2e stuff for TSR has recently been doing stuff for Pathfinder. Hopefully Boyd will pull something similar and come back to do more RPG stuff, FR or otherwise.
Man I can rattle off a list of folks I'd love to see come back with more stuff. |

That's a question only he can answer... But it could simply be a matter of being busy doing other stuff. A lot of game designers and authors have full-time, non-game jobs, and there's also the fact that real life can get in the way most readily. |

Indeed. And I'd rather we not speculate too deeply on this. I'm not comfortable with the idea of spreading unfounded rumours about Eric's lengthy online absence from the Realms.

Indeed. Another dream of gamers everywhere that is shattered: game design is not a path to riches. |

I always find it interesting to find out what other industry folks do as full-time jobs if they aren't among those working on RPGs full time.
Cell biologist fwiw here.
And RPGs are a thing of love, not a path to riches for most. Which is ironic given how hard it seems to be to break into the industry in the first place. :) |
