I have problems with the idea of shadow weave. Although I read the tread about the theory of shadow weave here I still have find the concept a little bit hard to understand because I dont know the details as well as I supposed to. So I would be very pleased if anyone could help me to find a proper source or help me with only explanations.

Nocturno;
Try the Forgotten realms campaign book, Deities & Demigods and the Magic of Faerun book, they all contain information on Shar and the history of the shadow weave.
Essentially it functions the same as the weave but enhances illusion, necromancy and divination? magics (I could be wrong here) and you have to ask Shar nicely if you want to use it. |

I believe you are referring to Faiths and Pantheons?
The Return of the Archwizards trilogy could also be helpful.
In my opinion, the best explanation lies within the first chapter of Magic of Faerun. |

Yeah, the shadow weave is looking pretty good, but alas tis a weave that I will not touch. Not that it be too dangerous, but too costly. I myself still strive to find a way to channel that raw magic without the weave. (So most wizards I play are WILD-mages..... DDDUUUUDDDEEEE!!!) |

hmm... i guess an easy way to say the concept behind the shadow weave is to have a 'dark' (shadow weave) for the 'light' (normal weave)... it's basically a copy that shar's been working on for quite some time... that has only recently surfaced in major proportions... it is based off darkness/shadows... but does not (at this time) have the level restrictions as the normal weave does (no spells above 9th level for mortals or whatever after Karsus's little episode with the goddess of magic before mystra [mystara?] during Netheril's time...) |

*fixes his weave* Yeah man. Shado weaving is actually very discribed in all the books that were listed off. Its rather easy to find out how it works and such and how it even exists. To go along with the flow o the normal magic SHar made shadow magic. Known as the shadow weave. Its on a diffrent scale all its own which is shy its hard to counter if you cna at all. And harder for shadow mages to counter normal magic much the same. Kind of like controlled magic and chaos magic. A chaos mage is stronger, but it has its own flaws. Just like shadow mamgic has its own flaws but is also stronger then normal magic. |

I'd say that would be a given.
Here it is, all laid out. There have been three goddesses of magic (Mystryl, Mystra, Mystra II (aka Midnight)).
Not one ever had anything to do with Mystara. |

More specifically the Shadow Weave exists in the gaps in Weave, gaps formed via millennia of abuse and idiotic archmages. Now, if you really want to give yourself a headache there is a debate over at the halls of the Wizards of the Coast where knowledgable (or shall we say too knowledgable) sages debate the nature of the Shadow Weave, exhaustively. Really, the concept of the Shadow Weave is very simple, it exists in the shadows of the normal Weave, the gaps, the holes formed over time. Now, when you get to trying to figure out where the Shadow Weave came from it gets difficult. There are stacks of parchment over at the halls of the Wizards expounding on the creation of and ways to affect the Shadow Weave and the significance of the Karsestone. Like Shar herself, the Shadow Weave is shrouded in mysteries. |

I can say that I m obsessed with that shadow weave. I would be great if you write the link for me. Can this shadow weave arise a battle between shar and mystra? The gaps seem to forfill the faitful's needs but shar needs more to defeat Selune and she has no affection for Mystra. And mystra would like to protect her portfolio since she is more chaotic than the older she may act very aggresive. What do you think about that fellow scribes? |
