It is the plane of which Corellon Laurethian resides as well as others of the Elven Pantheon.

Arvandor is in fact the first layer of the outer plane of Arborea, at least according to MotP 3e cosmology. It is the most famous and well known layer of Arborea, and is well known as the realm of the Elven Court of Corellon Larethian, the mythical Seldarine.

It is a layer of wide and open spaces, and trees. Throughout this entire layer lie the settlements of the Chosen of Arvandor (petitioners of the various elven deities...souls), who are regularly occupied living the highly idealised elven lifestyle. In the regular cycle of day to night, there are many challenges, and special hunts organised by the elves, and at night there are feasts and great tales told around blazing fires.

In the FR cosmology, Arvandor is home to the elven pantheon and the drow goddess, Eilistraee. There are a number of portals connecting to other good-aligned outer planes.

Does that helps?.

In the 2e cosmology, Arvandor was the elven part of Olympus(the home of the Greek gods.).

At least according to 2e MotP. Of course, you could also follow the Deities and Demigods interpretation and have a separate outer plane composed entirely of a realm for the Greek pantheon called "Mount Olympus".

Arivia, in his brilliant and original conception of the outer planes, Gary Gygax drew heavily upon Michael Moorcock's cosmic myth of "Law" vs. "Chaos". As such, the Outer Plane of Chaotic Good has variously (at times) been identified as Olympus, or Arborea, or even in a very weird interpretation...Woodstock .

Well, they must have great ambrosia there, then.

I thought that Eilistraee was banished from Arvandor. I'm not up to par with current cosmology -- in fact, the most recent one for her that I've read was in Evermeet -- but she agreed to be banished so that she could be the patron of non-evil drow.

Hell hath no fury like all of Candlekeep rising in defense of one of its own.

Bookwyrm, check your copy of the FRCS, in the cosmology section. In describing the outer plane of Arvandor, it mentions Eilistraee, along with the Seldarine.

I too was looking up Arvandor before this, keen to learn more. I didn't realise it was a plane, I thought it was a refuge.

I know I know, im a numbskull, but I digress. So I searched my google scroll for all accounts of this Arvandor and came to a forum called the 'Sacred House of Arvandor'. Logged on as Elminster of Shadowdale, and was dissapointed to see that it was in fact a forum dedicated to an Elven homeland of one of the factions in an MMORPG called Shadowbane or some such...

Anyway, thought I would share that

The Sixties version, I trust? Methinks the nineties version would represent Limbo or Pandemonium.
