It depends on why I'm picking a drow deity.
If I want a evil drow NPC, I'd prolly go with either Ghaunadaur or Vhaeruan. I like Vhaeraun more, but it depends on the needs of the NPC. For a non-evil drow NPC (or PC), I'd go with either Eilistraee or some non-drow deity. Again, depends on the needs of the character.
In general, though, I prefer Eilistraee over the rest. |

Lolth. Definetly. |
I've lost track of recent realmslore, since my campaigns are still in the 1370ies. :-) --- When talking about rules (and related stuff) I always refer to 3.5e unless explicitly noted. |

For game purposes Kiaransalee is the most interesting in my opinion. I assume others agree since City of the Spider Queen focused on her = P I prefer to think after being "erased" by Q'Arlynd she returned to the realms over time... I think she is a better deity of Necromancy than Velsharoon. Velsharoon seems too stereotypical bland necromancer. |

Eilistraee is my favorite drow deity. I like the history as to why she is a drow as a choice in order to redeem those drow of their descent into darkness with Lloth.
Lloth would probably be my evil drow choice or Kiaransalee. Not really a big fan of the others. |
Invention is the key to staying ahead of the competition. |

I'm inclined to agree.
For the most part, though, I've always liked Ghaunadaur, mostly due to the fact that he is Ed's Realms equivalent of the Gygax's Elder Elemental God, which I've also liked. |

Call me a "goody-goody", but I've always liked Eilistraee the most. She is the most sensible and level-headed of the drow deities, and the only one who does not have some ultimately self-serving goal. She made her choice out of selfless love and hope, and I love her portfolio of music, dance, and sword-work (all things which I myself love). The music and dance aspects in particular are very underrated among the drow, since they spend so much time trying to kill each other, they never seem to have any left over for simple pursuits of enjoyment. She fills that need. Her tenets of spreading joy and aiding those in need even when they behave rudely speaks to my "nice gal" side.
Now, if I were to pick an evil deity, I'd go with Zinzerrena. She is not as well-known as the others, but her independence, cleverness, and chutzpah appeal to me. She's the ultimate rogue and hunter among drow! |

NO! Don't let her win! I'm actually quite fond of Zinzerena these days. This looks too much like The Lady Penitent Trilogy........ |

*GASP* Eilistraee is beating Lolth! I feel sorry for Zinzerena. She's my second (maybe even first) favourite drow deity. |

Kiaransalee, mostly on account of the goods in City of the Spider Queen. 'Psychotic goddess of undeath and vengeance' is pretty cool in itself, then all her wonky minions to boot. Second choice would probably be Lolth, followed closely by Eilistraee. The entire Dark Seldarine has loads of quality drama going on, I should really try to get it on the game table more... |

Why is Zinzerena your favourite? What is written about her beyond two or three paragraphs in Monster Mythologies? I don't feel as if I know enough about her to even comment on her. |

I find her extremely intriging, there's a lot more lore regarding her, especially non FR related stuff. She is actually still alive in the other settings. I like how she's chaotic neutral and seeks the down fall of Lolth. It's really interesting that she was so powerful a rogue, that she rose to divinity (either when she triked Keptolo or when drow started to worship her). I just like her a lot. |

@Allystra-Are we going to continue to rp at the inn? xD
I also feel that she's an underdog, someone who could have really been brought into force in the Realms, but WotC decided differently...... I like that she's not really evil and not all goodness and light too and not concerned about going back to the surface. |

Do you think Zinzerena would have gotten along with the Seldarine. None of her lore states she has any bad feelings towards them, maybe she could be allied with Erevan? |
