What does it sound like? Do we have any examples in any of the literature? I seem to recall reading a book with a few sentences, but I'll be dipped if I can remember which? It may have been Dragonlance, I don't know. I think I remember a Centaur named Stonehoof. Any ideas, anybody? Homebrew, anything.

Love is a lie. Only hate endures. Light is blinding. Only in darkness do we see clearly.
"Oh, you think darkness is your ally? You merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but.. blinding. The shadows betray you because they belong to me." - Bane The Dark Knight Rises

| I think the House of Serpents Trilogy had some centauers in it, but I don't remeber if it showed something of their language (I'm not even shure that I don't confuse the books here) |

| I've conveniently assumed that centaurs speak Greek. |

I've always ruled that sylvan is a language of fizzeling, whooshing sounds that resemble wind in the forest's leaves. Sometimes I described low tonal sounds as like creaking wood or something. I just made up descriptions of sounds of nature fitting the tone and overall atmosphere of the situation…
It might be not that canon, but it's (at least in my opinion) cool and practical (since you don't need to learn vocabulary ;)).
The centaur dialect of sylvan might include the sounds of horses – or they speak greek, of course. :D |
I've lost track of recent realmslore, since my campaigns are still in the 1370ies. :-) --- When talking about rules (and related stuff) I always refer to 3.5e unless explicitly noted. |
