Just dropping in for a minute to let everyone know that I'm running a contest to mark the upcoming release of my Realms novel Unbroken Chain: The Darker Road. I've done this about every year for the past several years, and I usually set it up around some kind of theme.

Past contest themes have included website scavenger hunts, movie quotes, and favorite music, but this year I'm going with books. Hmm...actually I don't know why I haven't done that one before. Anyway, the way it works is, just drop me an email at jaleigh_onyxv@yahoo.com with your name and the answer to the following question:

What is the most mind-blowing book you've ever read and why?

Regardless of your answer, all entries will be put into a drawing to win an autographed copy of The Darker Road. Contest runs until 11:59 p.m. Central time on July 4th, and I'll draw the winner on July 5th, the official release date for the book.

Thanks for listening, and good luck to all who enter!

Any book or just realms related book?

"Small beings can have small wisdom," the dragon said. "And small wise beings are better than small fools. Listen: Wisdom is caring for afterwards."
"Caring for afterwards ...? Ker repeated this without understanding.
"After action, afterwards," the dragon said. "Choose the afterwards first, then the action. Fools choose action first."

I love your novel-contests, Jaleigh.

Even if I don't win, I always greatly value the opportunity to share with you some tidbit about music, films, or writing that I enjoy.

I had three books flash through my mind when I read this question.

Glad, we have until the 4th.

I hope Candlekeep continues to be the friendly forum of fellow Realms-lovers that it has always been, as we all go through this together. If you don’t want to move to the “new” Realms, that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with either you or the “old” Realms. Goodness knows Candlekeep, and the hearts of its scribes, are both big enough to accommodate both. If we want them to be.

Enough for now. The Realms lives! I have spoken! Ale and light wines half price, served by a smiling Storm Silverhand fetchingly clad in thigh-high boots and naught else! Ahem . .
So saith Ed. <snip>
love to all,

I appreciate the reminder, Jaleigh. I can't believe I almost forgot.

Yep, I announced the winner this past Tuesday on my blog:

http://jaleigh-johnson.livejournal.com/50057.html

Sorry, I should have put the link to my blog in the original entry. I just assumed everyone would go there for the results, but I forget sometimes that not everyone's familiar with how I run the contests.

Thanks Jaleigh! Yeah, this was my first contest of yours, so I didn't know the drill.
