Hi all.
I've just finished a batch of screensavers which I've sent to Alaundo for posting and he asked me what I'm planning on doing next. I had the idea of doing The Candlekeep Quiz!
Hopefully it will work like this:
1. Everyone out there reading this produces a bunch of questions.
2. They then e-mail those questions to me.
3. I will incorporate them into a quiz program.
4. I will then publish the quiz program on Candlekeep.
5. Everyone downloads the program, completes the quiz and e-mails their answers back to me.
6. I'll then mark the answers and publish the results.
Don't post anything yet, this is just to get a feeling for how many of you are interested. In particular
DO NOT POST ANY QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS HERE
and don't e-mail them to me yet. I need to speak to Alaundo to agree a format for the questions - this format will (hopefully) be published here so that everyone will use the same format and that way the questions can be read automatically (I don't want to have to re-type them).
I'm basically considering multi-choice format (ie four answers for each question, only one of them correct) as this makes automatic marking a possibility. I don't want anyone to worry about bad English or spelling. It doesn't matter how bad you think your English is, it's gonna be better than the way I speak your language.
If we all make an effort at this, it will work and I'll personally guarantee that everyone making a contribution will be given credit in the software.
Let me know how you feel about this idea and if there is enough interest, I'll speak to Alaundo about it.

Sounds quite good. We can integrate some of the past quizzes here. I'm willing to participate. |

What kind of questions would be included? Would they have to be relegated to strictly FR, or could the subject be from another AD&D world? Sounds interesting at least. I'd be willing to take part too. |

Even though I can't think of any killer FR esoterica to e-mail you I would participate in the quiz itself, for sure! |

Well Met
Indeed it is best to stick to Realms topics.... would make it much more unique and easier to keep track of (and also is held within Candlekeep so would make more sense to have it purely FR).

Many thanks kahonen, im sure it will be a masterpiece. |

kahonen, this is indeed an intriguing idea. I believe I have some noteworthy questions that will work well with what you have planned.
I'll send them to you in a few days...

Oh, I forgot to post this...are you actually limiting this 'Big Quiz' just to Faerun, or can questions pertaining to such regions as Kara-Tur and/or Maztica be included?.

Hmmmmm, whilst Faerun is more widely known amongst us all, Kara-Tur\Maztica etc. are still part of the Realms, and should be included be rights. I think the only area not to include is Zakhara, this would just confuse matters. Stictly Forgotten Realms, I say. |

Don't send anything yet.
I'm currently writing a question editor which will enable you to repeatedly type in a question followed by four answers and it will save the data into a format I'll be able to use. I should have this finished within a couple of days.

I have an assortment of questions to submit as well. Just let us know when you are ready to receive them. One thing I think we should do is include some sort of source reference when we submit our questions so that the answers can be verified more easily. Also, would it be possible to post questions with multiple answers or "all of the above" type answers?

I'm thinking for simplicity, only one out of the four correct, limit it to the Realms (all parts) and FR novels. There's gotta be enough knowledge here to make this worthwhile.

Apologies for the delay in this. Things in the "real world" have to take priority occasionally. I'm hoping to have a Question Editor available by the end of the week. |
