Fellow Scribes,
In the process of collecting lore for my upcoming Silver Marches campaign, I have compiled a list of most of the major NPC's of Luruar.
The list follows the timeline of the Silver Marches sourcebook - around DR 1372.
This will, most likely, be not a totally complete list (some prior edition characters are probably missing) but its fairly exhaustive.
Almost all these are canon (with the exception of Accesiwal, which is from Dungeon 87, but just fits perfectly). Most characters from the People of the Black Blood are taken from the Twisted Run Adventure in Dungeon 129. The Acolytes of the Hidden Flame come from Dungeon 101.
Since I have not seen such a list in these halls before, I thought this might be useful for other scribes.

Ed's Wyrms of the North articles would expand the list of dragons - this used to available at the Wizards website and can still be found easily on the web.

| -Question (two, actually): What is the 'date' of the list, in terms of general DR? Because, some of the characters that are listed have died in either the later stages of the 3e era, in sourcebooks or novels (let alone the 4e transition), if that matters? And, are the levels/classes straight from the WotC books/articles, or have they been edited to reflect better new D&D classes and/or events that change the characters from novels? |

The current date of the list is approximately DR 1372. The Silver Marches sourcebook has been used for the timeline and most of the characters.
With the exception of the NPC's from Mirabar (taken directly from the North: Savage Frontier sourcebook) all the levels/classes are taken straight from offical WotC books.
It it is a good point, I will add the date to the opening post to avoid any confusion. |

"The Hunter's Blades Trilogy" ("THBT") is chock-full of other characters, though I'm unsure how one determines whether each is "major" or not:

Drizzt Do'Urden probably played a more important role than Belwar Dissengulp. Drizzt's report on the Underdark (Drizzt Do'Urden's Guide To The Underdark, 1370 DR) was vital in persuading the Alliance of Luruar to admit Blingdenstone to the confederation (and probably in convincing the various member nations that there was a significant enough of a threat to go ahead with developing the alliance), but the gnomish town was wasted shortly thereafter, with its inhabitants scattered to the four winds, not to be heard from again. Apparently, Belwar's contingent did not remain in Mithral Hall for long, because they did not appear in the novels of "THBT" (set in 1371 DR) or The Orc King (set in 1372 DR).

It's two years before, but the characters from my novel Ghostwalker were running around in 1372:
The Ghostwalker (N male human fighter/ranger/ghostwalker, CR 10), Spirit of Vengeance
Dharan Greyt (NE male human bard, CR 10), Lord Singer of Quaervarr, former adventurer
Meris Greyt (CE male human ranger/rogue/wild scout, CR 8), Dharan's son
There are a few more people in Quaervarr, but probably more useful to you would be:
Arya Venkyr (NG female fighter/knight-errant, CR 7), "The Nightingale of Everlund" (refers to her homeland), member of the Knights in Silver and personal friend of Alustriel
Bars (LG male paladin, CR 7), Arya's companion
Derst (CG male fighter/rogue, CR 7), ditto

I updated the list with the Companions of the Hall as well as some giants and NPC's from Quaervarr (loved Ghostwalker btw.!)
Thanks for your contributions. (removed some formating errors as well).
The minor cities (Jalanthar, Deadsnows etc.) are not included because of their size and minor position in the marches.

Is the Knight in charge of selecting would be Knights in Silver so a fairly important NPC. |

A very helpful compliation. Thank you!
However I would note two mistakes:
Alustriel is actually Wiz20/Sor2/Acm2. Aside from fitting in character wise, the pre-epic sorcerer levels also give her a substantially higher Will save bonus, as well as useful utilitarian spells.
Taern Hornblade is an Evoker in his full stat block sidebar rather than a pure wizard, though he is abbreviated as a standard wizard in short-form listings elsewhere. |
