Im planning on running a game in the crownwars (well actually start a millenia BEFORE the crown wars proper, started)

Am curious...

the Elf nations... Illythir, Miyentar, Aryvandor, etc... in that day and age... it never, gives much ino on those nowlongdefunct nationso just askingwerethey citystates, a single city and 3 or 4villages, orsizable NATIONS, if that makes sense.

Major reason to ask this, is Im thinking of letting the PC's Encounter miyentaur, being attacked by Vyshanti forces, , preferably vyshanti forces, cutting out thebellys of Expectent mothers, and Sliting childrens throats.

Long story short, is it probaly not going to be too hard to have one or two major gold or moon elf familys in Miyentar, its easier to justify if its a sizable nation not a city state.

Indications there were millions of each, though without a set starting date it is very hard to say how many were there.

The immigrants would have started slowly or quickly based on relative dangers.

The first from other space clearly would be scouts/explorers seeking a better/safer place.

If you want to back that far I do not recall any useful lore as to that. The various Elves found lands that they staked a claim in. Then invited the rest over as better then where they were.

"Small beings can have small wisdom," the dragon said. "And small wise beings are better than small fools. Listen: Wisdom is caring for afterwards."
"Caring for afterwards ...? Ker repeated this without understanding.
"After action, afterwards," the dragon said. "Choose the afterwards first, then the action. Fools choose action first."

-It was done on purpose, my guess is, to make it easier for Joe Schmoe to make his own take of the Crown Wars in his D&D campaign at home, and to simulate, to a certain degree, the "haze of history", being that the Crown Wars took place thousands of years in the past, and records of them are purposefully hard to find, being a less-than-happy moment in the history of Elvendom on Abeir-Toril.

-Someone (Snowblood?) has a bunch of PDFs that were put together with all kind of official and homebrew information about various Elven Empires during the Crown Wars that you can download here (http://phasai.deviantart.com/).

-In terms of background information for all those various Empires, 'Elven Realms' was one of the sections that I never finished in Elves of Faerūn, with it being such an expansive subject. Volume I does have an Elven Chronology which, at the very least, has mentions of various Empires that existed at the time, and pivotal events that took place.
