Easily my favorite Feist series, followed by the Serpentwar Saga

I keep meaning to read the "Serpentwar Saga."

Maybe after the "Star Trek: Destiny" series.

If you loved the Riftwar Saga, then you'd definitely love Serpentwar as well. So many fun surprises, and some rather sad ones. In the said series, Feist assembled a bigger and equally interesting cast.

I don't think I've ever read the "Riftwar Saga" either.

It's been so long since I've touched a Feist-novel, that it's almost embarrassing for me to admit that I'm so far behind in reading them.

Every three days I find 5 minutes time to read at night before falling asleep.
Those few minutes I distribute between:
1) Dune book 2 (genius...)
2) Terry Pratchett "Interesting Times" (a bit lame, I prefer everything with the Nightwatch)
3) Realms of Valor (yawn...so far)

So you've read the books that come after the original trilogy, but not the original trilogy itself?

(Note: I refer to it as a trilogy because Magician: Apprentice and Magician: Master were originally written as one book, Magician.)

I have recently (past couple of months) finished up the song of ice and fire books By George RR Martin and Jim Butcher's, Codex Alera. Both sets are great reads.

Last week, I started Elminster Must Die and Shadowbane. Both are off to a great start.

More than likely.

As I said earlier, I've largely forgotten which Feist books I've read. The majority of them lay scattered throughout both my "To-Read" and "Read" stacks, so it's kind of difficult to judge where I'm at with them.

I myself don't read in order. But when it comes to Feist's novels, I try to break that habit.

And let me note: even though each series has its own title (Riftwar, Serpentwar, Conclave of Shadows, Darkwar, Demonwar, and Chaoswar), all of them are connected, not just through the characters, but through the plots as well.

Every beginning has an end.

Ha! These days I can only allot an hour a week for recreational reading! Though maybe it's gonna change next week. Hopefully.

I've been reading a lot. But it's something not intended for non-members of our organization.

My "To Read" pile currently has about 70 books in it; so when i finish a book it can be difficult deciding which treasure to dive into next

Those things tend to happen when a challenging job and small kids come together. Times will get better again in terms of reading (i hope).

I remember when my "To Read" pile was still seventy-books young.

Now it's spawned multiple offspring that dwarf even the original stack!

I'm reading The Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum. So far so good. Not much like the movie, but still quite interesting. Since this novel was written and published about three decades ago, the technology is outdated. Nonetheless, that doesn't make the story less palatable. How Jason Bourne (convincingly) manages to survive any predicament he falls into is one of the many things that make the book a certified page-turner.

I recently read the Bourne trilogy (the original three written by Ludlum; I didn't bother with any of the others), and they have very little to do with the movies. A highly trained amnesiac on the run, and that's about it. Of course, the movies had to change some stuff around, since Carlos the Jackal features quite prominently in the books, and the real Carlos was not as scary, and was already in prison when the first movie came out. I think they had to scrap much of the original material because it was easier to do a re-write than it was to set the movies in the 1980's, and also because Carlos was old news when the movies were done.

I'm still about 1/3 of the book. I like Marie better in the novel. Capable women are always interesting.

As for Carlos, well, I was in elementary when he was sentenced to life imprisonment (December 1997). And as most (if not all) elementary students are, I didn't care much for politics and news that time. So now Carlos is not exactly that old news to me. Besides, he got a new trial that began on November 7, 2011, in Paris.

And oh, I should note that I like Ludlum's style. Very smooth, as fluid as a gently running stream. And there are no awkward dialogs.

Fortunately I was able to grab a fair amount of free time and finished this book today. As expected, it's quite unlike the movie, BUT nearly twice as fun! I would have finished it in a day or two if not for my crazy schedule...

It's quite entertaining to see Jason (aka Delta/Cain/Charlie/David) shed his "skin" and become a chameleon...and a very talented provocateur.

Highly recommended!

Every beginning has an end.

Taking a break from A Song of Fire and Ice (between the second and third books) to read some BattleTech goodness, Highlander Gambit and Impetus of War. After those, it'll be back to Westeros. After that, I'm feeling like revisiting both Middle-Earth and Hogwarts.

All the recent chatter about The Hobbit trailer has made me somewhat nostalgic for Tolkien's grand tale, so I'm taking a break from reading everything else and heading back to The Hobbit book.

Such a great book! I re-read it a few years ago only to find out that now I liked it even better than LotR. Although I know the movie will never be able to get at the same level as the book, it is probably one of the only movies I am really anxiously waiting for!

The trailer of The Hobbit is a bit boring. Though maybe (and hopefully) the movie itself wouldn't be disappointing, given that it's Peter Jackson who directed it.

Thoroughly enjoying the Haunted Land trilogy! Finished the first book, Unclean, and over 100 pages into the second book, Undead.
From the cast - Liking the character of Aoth and finding Tammith a very interesting concept.
Good stuff.

On the side, while still waiting for my Feist books, I'm reading the first book in Terry Brooks' Landover series - Magic kingdom for sale, sold!

I haven't re-read The Lord of the Rings for quite some time. Once, I used to make a habit of re-reading it once a year, but I've been dropping off that stance for the last few years. Maybe because I've dedicated more of my time to working through my stacks of unread books.

My re-reading of The Hobbit felt like a good choice, though, as it's been almost a decade since my last re-read of the book.

I'm a bit ashamed to say, but all though I've been reading in the forgotten realms universe for quite some time now, I'm just getting into the Elminster series just now, and I just finished Elminster in Myth Drannor, and I'm looking for The Temptation of Elminster now.

Good stuff.

Tammith is one of Xingax's most interesting inventions.

I loved that series. It has almost everything that I look for in a fantasy saga.

Have been thinking about it myself, at least refering to The Hobbit, don't think I'm re-reading Lord of the Rings again in short. I usually get happy just by watching The Two Towers again and again....
