| I am in the midst of a FR Novel phase. Thornhold by Elaine on the nightstand. I packed The Haunted Lands Trilogy by Richard Lee Byers for a cabin this weekend. I have to pick up Realms of the Dead on the way down. Thank you again for the heads up about "Haunted Lands" Dennis. |

| I finished Revan. It was a decent story, expected more from the Sith Empire and KOTOR 2 characters, feels there's a lot of wasted potential |

Finished up with Joe Abercrombie's Best Served Cold. This was my first book from this author and i loved it! Great gritty story about revenge. No magic; just swords, poison, and severed limbs.

Yeah, you can tell the author was the writer for KotoR 1, and not KotoR 2. After I finished reading the book and thought about some of the things that happened within, I came to the conclusion that Drew either actively dislikes the fact that a number of people say the plot to KotoR 2 is better than KotoR 1 (only the plot, the game has issues), or he was going out of his way to tell KotoR 2 fans what they could do with their copy of the game. I thought it was okay, but everyone from KotoR 2 got the extreme short end of the stick.
As for me, I am finishing the Shadow of the Avatar trilogy now. After that, it will probably be either Paul S Kemp's Crosscurrent (and then possibly Riptide right after) or the second and third Chosen of Nendawen books. I was waiting for the third book to read them both, and now I have third book. |

The kotor 2 characters did get shafted. I still enjoyed the book overall, but am inclined to agree with the guy who said (either here or somewhere else I was reading) that at times it almost seems that Revan is a side character. The book is mostly about Scourge and everyone else. Enjoyable read in the end, but not one of my favorites.
I need to finish: -the Twilight War trilogy (read Shadowbred, then found myself iPad-less for a while and in need of something to read, so I sidetracked) -the Finder's Stone trilogy (almost done with Azure Bonds but not really liking it as much as I thought I would) -Song & Swords (waiting til the end of the month when Thornhold and The Dream Spheres are out in ebook form) -the rest of the giant pile of the Harper's series that my buddy lent me (5-13, so far only read The Ring of Winter and Elfsong. Enjoyed the former, loved the latter)
Yet I feel compelled to re-read the awesomeness that was Blackstaff...so much to read, so much I should have already read, and....you get the idea. |

| The Book of Jhereg, by Steven Brust. Very entertaining story. Its protagonist Vlad Taltos is an assassin and witch with a jhereg for a familiar. A jhereg is basically a miniature dragon that uses poison as its primary weapon. I recommend it if you enjoy stories about assassins, or Servant of the Shard or the Sellswords Duology. |

Just curious, is it your fist time reading Feist? |

If you loved the Riftwar Saga, then you'd definitely love Serpentwar as well. So many fun surprises, and some rather sad ones. In the said series, Feist assembled a bigger and equally interesting cast. |

Not so different, in my opinion. Half of the cast are the same ones featured in Riftwar. And we get to see another "larger than life" threat. I should note, too, that some characters acted a bit out of their usual way, especially Pug in Shards of a Broken Crown. But you're right, the new characters that are introduced are indeed great. |

Hehe, seems I've triggered a mass of responenses with the mention of Feist - a good purchase then. I'm pretty new to reading Feist - I stumbled upon Silverthorn in a second hand bookstore and bought it (having heard a lot of good things about the series in the past) and wasn't dissapointed - A great read. Knowing it was the 2nd book I ordered the 1st and 3rd book shortly after finishing it. I think one of the reasons I liked silverthorn so much was partly because of Jimmy the hand - I always seem to find the witty rogue/thief type characters interesting in novels...not taking away anything from the rest of the characters. I'm looking forward to reading about Pug's exploits in Magician and how the trilogy unfolds.
@Dennis: Thank you for the link. That should help a bunch. I wasn't sure where to go after A Darkness at Sethanon. I've also heard some good things about the empire trilogy he wrote with Janny Wurtz?
Regarding the FR novels: I'n about halfway through both Shadow Stone and Unclean - although Unclean is beginning to steal my reading time at the moment. Some interesting and unconventional stuff going on - keeps me reading. |

You're very much welcome, LastStand. Glad to be of help.
I agree, Jimmy is quite interesting. Never got bored with him. As for Pug, well, I've always liked him. Magician starts a little bit slow, but still manages to be captivating.
After A Darkness at Sethanon, you can pick up The Serpentwar Saga. The Empire Trilogy is the only Feist series I haven't yet read. But as I understand, it deals little with Midkemian affairs; and focuses more on Kelewan.
Unclean, or rather the whole The Haunted Lands Trilogy is Richard's best...so far. Magic, swordplay, betrayal, espionage, a dash of romance, assassination, total depravity, and world-shattering goals. A fine recipe, indeed. |

Jimmy the Hand is one of my fave characters.
The Empire Trilogy is quite good. It is entirely set on Kelewan, but not entirely in Tsuranuanni. It focuses quite heavily on Tsurani politics. Not only do we get to see much of the Great Game, we also learn more about the Assembly and the cho-ja, and we get to see Milamber's actions at the Imperial Games in Kentosani from an entirely different PoV. |
