My apologies, Snowblood. Google yields results to both spellings. I'm not sure where Aryvandaar was first mentioned on what the canonical spelling is. Hmmm...peculiar.
C:EoE puts it as Aryvandaar, as does Hellgate Keep, as does LEoF. Well dip me in honey and throw me to the dryads. My bad. My only consolation is I'm not the only one to be so mistaken. |

I'm not 100% about this, but I believe this problem (which stemmed from a spelling change from Cormanthyr to LEoF, IIRC) was partially 'fixed' by the GHotR.
One spelling refers to the family, and the other the empire. The 'aar' suffix is used by the elves to denote a Realm.
This is just my best guess, so take it with a grain of salt. |

My reply stems from the fact that the site I used yielded no results for the other spelling while theone I supplied give plenty and they got lots of information from the books...oh and I'm right cause I'm not wrong |

I often ignore typos or misspellings... But it's humorous, to me, to see a misspelling in the subject of a thread about the spelling of a particular word! |

I really only take notice of misspellings if I'm making particular note of a specific piece of Realmslore for game and/or reference notebook purposes. That's when it's necessary for me to be sure of the correct spelling. |

Typos and misspellings generally jump out and bite me -- I've come to the conclusion that I'm pattern-oriented (instead of detail-oriented), and thus see deviations from the pattern quite readily.
Generally I ignore them, though -- we all make mistakes. I myself had one just the other day, when I caught a grammatical error only after someone had quoted me.
So I try to limit commenting on typos and misspellings, unless it's something funny... Like a want ad my grandfather once showed me, where they were looking for someone for 8 hour shifts... Guess which letter was left out of "shifts"?
Seeing a misspelling in a thread about a spelling issue appeals to my sense of irony. |

Yeah, I've had to bite my tongue about the apostrophe in the "Do Editor's [sic] get a bad rap?" thread title, since it's about editorial matters. |

Unfortunately, I have to be very conscious of misspellings... especially when it comes to debugging code. Because even the slightest misspelling error on just one line of a program can cause problems in the compiling process, not to mention aberrant behaviour from the program if/when it executes according to the incorrect coding.
So when it comes to misspellings in text, I usually have to deliberately force myself to bypass them. There's no threat of compilation [unless we're talking mental compilation ] here. |
