Anyone know where I could find game stats on Elaine Cunningham's novel Elfsong? I'm especially interested in the villain, Garnett, and the Meadowlark Harp.
No, she doesn't appear in the Villain's Lorebook. :)

I don't immediately recall think there being any official stats for these specific novel-elements.
I'd be willing to work on some stats for the Meadowlark Harp, though. I'll just have to consult my copy of Elfsong first. |

I'd be interested in your takebut don't put yourself out too much. I was mostly curious because she uses it to take down Khelben. That's a requirement for the plot, but is difficult to reconcile with his power and status as one of Mystra's Chosen. I think the basic explanation is thatKhelben was that Chosen didn't really exit when Elfsongwas written, Cunningham simply based things off the info she had from the old boxed set and FR7.
In game, I think the Meadowlark Harp must have been an artifact. This also explains how she could cast a spell with that Harp that allows her to alter the memories of Bards all across the North.
I love how the novel ties in info from the Complete Book of Bards and other source books. Cunningham was a master at making the world's rules work for her, instead of changing the world's rules to meet her plot (as far too many Realms authors have done. )

I think classifying it as an artifact might be a little too much, but then it's been a while since I've read the book, so I could be misjudging things here.

Considering what she did with it, and the fact that it was notable enough a task for Elaith to be sent after it, I have to agree with GMWest. If it wasn't a minor artifact, it was quite close to it. |

Yeah, I've just re-read the relevant passages in the book. I'm more inclined to agree now. Might be worth studying the lore for artifacts in sources like Volo's Guide to All Things Magical, if I'm going to attempt a working for something like this. |
