Well, I love Races of Faerûn but I read, in several posts, the info therein is garbled and not 100% correct.
Some says look for solid stuff: - Cormanthyr - Empire of Elves - Dragon Annual 4
Anybody know other places where looking for?

| What is it precisely that you are looking for, Asharak? I could recommend many... |

I somehow doubt that anything in D&D could ever be 100% correct. There are too many schisms of opinion about canon for any hope of a universal consensus, and more divisions evolve with each new D&D release. Plus there are persistent actual errors which slip by the designers and proofreaders, errors of syntax and balance and consistency, trivial and subtle and outrageous.
Races of Faerûn is a WotC 3.5E product from about 2003. It may be "newer" or "older" information than the D&D sourcebooks and edition you prefer, but I wouldn't call it garbled.
Repeating Fellfire's query: what information are you looking for, Asharak? |

Races of Faerun is accurate and pretty definitive- (NB: some of the race illustration captions are in the wrong order) - for everything up to 3.5 edition.
After that, quite a lot changes, so it becomes less useful. Cormanthyr being older than RoF, will tell you in more depth of the elves history and culture but that's all. |

Hi Asharak,
I take it like in the real world, there are every now and then new findings about who is descendant from whom and why and so on. But basically I second Arik's oppinion. At the end you have to decide which version is the correct one for your campaign.

- 2E Arcane Age: Netheril
- FR10 Old Empires
- FR12 The Horde (this is a realy intruguing one

Some 2E books about races that I'd recommend —
"Generic" PHBR6 Complete Book of Dwarves PHBR8 Complete Book of Elves PHBR9 Complete Book of Gnomes & Halflings PHBR10 Complete Book of Humanoids
Realms Arcane Ages: Cormanthyr Empire of the Elves Arcane Ages: The Fall of Myth Drannor FR11 Dwarves Deep FOR1 Draconomicon FOR2 Drow of the Underdark FOR5 Elves of Evermeet FOR7 Giantcraft FOR12 Demihumans of the Realms
Ravenloft Van Richten's Guide to Vampires Van Richten's Guide to Ghosts Van Richten's Guide to the Lich Van Richten's Guide to Werebeasts Van Richten's Guide to the Created Van Richten's Guide to the Ancient Dead Van Richten's Guide to Fiends
Planescape Faces of Evil: The Fiends Planes of Chaos Planes of Law Planes of Conflict
There are also many books about monsters and various non-playable races, and most of the books describing regions in the Realms setting introduce some (or a lot of) detail, rules, and quirks involving their local races. |

| Agreed, the Ecologies are excellent references. I was trying to focus on sources that presented a lot of lore about races, though it's difficult to isolate them because the races are deeply intertangled into everything else. The races aren't just stats, they're what brings life and character to their settings. |

The EE's are the only place you will find the Leucrotta pantheon.
As for RoF, its a good source, but not perfect. |

| Not really a sourcebook, but I'd recommend Hellgate Keep for lore as well. Sea Devils is one of the best 2e books and Complete Book of Necromancers is probably my favorite. |
