           	| Has anyone ever played a dwarf using the whole "I've been stripped of my clan name and must regain it" angle? The idea just sprung to me of a dwarf wandering around trying to earn a new name after prior misdeeds caused his clan to take it away. |

                      | Yes, it was the basis for my Dwarf Slayer PrC. Although, the dwarf would basically be stripped of his titles, clan affliations and other cultural 'attachments' due to poor performance in battle which directly lead significant defeats for dwarven forces as a whole. There is no accepted method for atonement for a dwarf who has failed his group and race as a whole. The 'cast-out' dwarf will spend the rest of his life as an outcast of dwarven society, suffering treatment and relations similiar to that of the duergar subrace.
At one time I did seek to amen this PrC, making the following changes - defeat at the hands of a particular monstrous creature that has had other dire consequences for his kin would result in the dwarf's loss of face and honour among his kin.

In this case, the dwarf could only atone for his 'mis-deeds' by hunting down the offending creature and exacting his revenge, normally at great personal risk, and usually unarmed. The dwarf's resulting death (as most normally do die) would usually be enough to regain some of his lost honour in the eyes of his kin.

                      | I was thinking that perhaps the dwarf could forge himself a new name....perhaps a find a new clan that will accept him or perhaps sponsor him for reinstatement in his old clan after he has acheived some lost dwarven artifact or performed some feat of dwarven daring do (freeing an entire clan of dwarves enslaved by verbeeg or something). |

                      | Guilty as charged...
Anyway, yes, my Dwarven Slayer PrC is in fact based partly on material from earlier Warhammer editions of the 'Dwarfs' army tome.

The City of Doors has portals to everywhere, remember?...

                      | Why not have him create his own clan. Have him bring that name from the ground on up. |
