I love it when former WotC employees go to work for Paizo.
Way to go Paizo!!

Wherefore guard the word written and heed words unwritten and set them down ere they fade . . . Learn then, well, the arts of reading, writing, and listening true, and they will lead you to the greatest art of all: understanding." Alaundo of Candlekeep |

I got this in my mail last night, but couldn't find the post on the site. Congrats, Stephen Radney-MacFarland! |
I actually DO know everything. I just have a very poor index of my knowledge.

Paizo always seems to make the right hires. I've enjoyed both their 3.5 and their Pathfinder adventure paths, and adding Stephen Radney-MacFarland to their already talent heavy team makes me even more confident that the best is yet to come. |

I wonder if this means they will be trying their own hand at a 'living' campaign-type model.
Unless they already have - I haven't been a regular over there in about a year, but I recall there were a few things they were doing that appeared to be organizing their fans into 'teams' (similar, in effect, to what happens with miniatures enthusiasts, like Warhammer or Warmachine players).
In any event, the cream always rises to the top - I wish him and them the best. |

Oh, they got Pathfinder Society Organized Play. It's currently in Season 2 (Season 0 was with 3.5 OGL before Pathfinder rules were release, so third year) and running strong.
Visit the Pathfinder Society page. From there, you can sign up for an account, download the Pathfinder Society Guide for free, Register your character, Find an event near you, and find information for purchasing scenarios, reporting scenarios, creating events, downloading Pre-gens and guidelines for writing for Pathfinder Society.
Oh, and if you go the Pathfinder RPG Reference Document you can check out all the open-license stuff for free.
So, they've provided the Rules to Play, a Guide to creating a Pathfinder Society character, a website to enter and track your character, and a way to create, update and report events. All for FREE. No cost except the gas money to get to the event.

Also, if I remember correctly from earlier this year, you can run a Pathfinder Society Game via pbp and have it count for the living campaign, which is cool for people who can't ever go to events, though I imagine it would take awhile to run through the adventure in pbp. |

Sorry, couldn't resist... of course I'm only kidding; if I weren't gearing-up for an Essentials campaign I would surely look into this. |

Consider this then:
They offer special deals for volunteering to run the Society scenarios at GenCon. In the past, if you volunteered for at least two slots, you get a free t-shirt & a gift certificate. And if you volunteered for 8 slots or more, they gave you a t-shirt, store credit, paid for your four day pass, and helped pay your housing.
Generous, generous dudes & dudettes. |
