These space-ships are amazing!
I like the nautiloid in particular... great stuff! |

Ralderick, *bows* thank you! :) The 3D models are a LOT of work to make, 1 or 2 solid months, but once done I cna re-use the models as often as I want ;) so you cna make many scenes with 'em.
the ship designs were AWESOME, one reason I love Spelljammer so much, the animalistic shapes nautiloid in Spelljammer rules is shown to be a small to medium sized trader, BUT, the actual deckplans, once built in 3D becomes a freaking huge battleship!! As often in the rules, they got the plans vs the artwork totally out of whack, hehe |

Not in canon Spelljammer, no - the wings (and sails, and oars) are used to maneuver the ships. If that makes no sense, it does not, and neither did a lot of other things in the Spelljammer universe, but we still loved it . |

There was an old discussion on the first SPELLJAMMER Mailing List that postulated that exact concept. I'll see if I can find a copy in my archives.

Indeed. Elven ships were grown, and had to be trimmed regularly, because they continued to grow. There're at least two places in existing Realmslore where wrecked elven spelljammers have continued to grow into new formations. |

Wolly Rupert, yeah the "Eleven Armadas", huge space bases for the ELven Imperial Navy, were made by letting the wings of many Man-O-Wars grow and intertwine, iirc, based around a ciruclar pattern, then a platform was built in to make a ciruclar base, next a "castle" like structure built so the Man-O-Wars pointed out, giving weapons positions in eyes/forcastle of each ship, landing strip around the ciruclar platform, and the castle/underparts for living etc
the wings helped keep the air fresh, being plants. |

Actually, the Armada was an entirely separate ship type. We never got deck plans for that hull, but it was essentially a larger Man-of-War. There were bases such as Lionheart, though, that were grown from multiple ships being linked by their wings and allowed to grow together. |
