Again I'm not sure is this the right place to post this question or not, but I'll ask. Can Elminster beat Raistlin from Dragonlance? And who do you like more?

I root for Elminster. 1000 years of experience can beat talent. |

Raistlin got boring and (arguably) less powerful towards the end of his (miserable) life. While El's life was ever resplendent and far from becoming boring. And with or without the silverfire, he's a force to reckon. So I'd vote for the Old Mage. |

None of them (or both). Why? Check Dragon Magazines #something (don't remember). I read not a long time ago that it's not sure who would win. And I agree with that version. |

That'd be the final issue, and it lists the pro's and con's of each mage but ultimately leaves it for the reader to decide.
Personally, I'd have to favour Raistlin at his peak -- remember, he had all the power of Fistandantilus, a lich who had lived for almost as long as ol' El 'imself. Still, there's no subjective way of measuring it: either could defeat the other, depending on the author writing the story. |
"Gods, little fishes, and spells to turn the one to the other," Mordenkainen sighed. "It's started already..." |

I'd favor Raistlin too. I mean, he's taken down Gods (that's plural) and I don't think even at Elminster's hight of the pre-spellplague Realms could he take down deities in the very own home-plane. Again, it's hard to measure both of them due to the writing styles and subjectivity of the argument. El is a much more fun character to read about though. |

Any number of variables could skew an X vs. Y battle one way or the other. It's one of the many things that makes these discussions purely subjective. These discussions are also very much discouraged, per section B4 of the Candlekeep Forum Code of Conduct.
Therefore, I am locking this scroll. |
