| Metallica's "Disposable Heroes" for anyone forced to fight wars for despots, whether in armies led by fanatical followers of Bane or as a slave in Thay. Might also fit that outer plane (can't remember the name) where massive cubes float amongst each other and the souls of dead warriors come to fight and die in endless battles, then be resurrected the next day to do it all over again. |

The Old man down the Road by John Fogerty, for Elminster.
He take the thunder from the mountain He take a lightning from the sky He bring a strong man to his begging knee He make the young girl's mama cry.
I just picture a bent-over figure dressed in rags coming down the path, who looks up and in his eyes you can see your own death.
Eve of Destruction for Shar?
Good Morning Starshine for Lathander?
Ironman by Black Sabbath for Manshoon? |

Bad to the Bone by George Thorogood for Khelben
Stand by your Man for Laeral
Knights in White Satin for Pelegrin
Emotional Rescue by the Stones, for nearly any male Knight of Myth Drannor
Stairway to Heaven = Mystra's theme during the Avatar Crisis
Venus by Frankie Avalon (NOT Bannanarama!!!) for Sune
Magic Man by Heart for The Simbul (strange, i know... yet pertinent)
And lastly, Behind Blue Eyes by The Who for Larloch, which is probably my oddest choice by far, but if even half of what I suspect is true, that song could be the core of his being.

Heh. A lot of my early/formative years were spent listening to the "great composers" -- while school chums and friends alike bombarded their ear-drums with the "classics of the 80's."
I like the 80's music too. 1680's, 1780's, and even the 1880's. |

My taste would be considered 'eclectic', at best. My alignment is chaotic musical.
The Long and Winding Road for Shaundakul
I'm No Supermman is another good one for Elminster
The Warrior by Patty Smyth for the Red knight
Do You Really want to hurt me? for Loviatar
Dirty Deeds for Baal
Stray Cat Strut for Baast, Lets get Physical when she's Sharess
Eye of the Tiger for Gruumsh
Corellon - any song by David Bowie
Stand by Me for Helm
The Lion Sleeps Tonight for Nobanion
Who are You for Nameless/Finder Wyverspur
Bat Out of Hell for Asmodeus
Crazy Train for Cyric?

Interesting choices. There's one or two I'd change though, and when I get time, I'll post some suggestions of my own for those who, like myself, are "classically-inclined." |

Hey Jorkens. I love your choices. One note, though. Beshaba's pick of Evil woman is from ELO, not Spooky Tooth.
IK, it looks like we have similar tastes in music!!
BTW, Wooly, thanks for the clarification. I get Valkur and shandakoul mixed up since they both cover travel.
Another few picks.
Cyric or Malar: "The Monster is Loose" by Meat Loaf.
Also for Malar: "Bark at the Moon" by black Sabbath (Sorry- had to go there!)
Mystra and Elmisnter together: "Magic" by the Cars
Deudermont: "Wake of the Magellan" by Savatage

The Goddess is alive, and magic is afoot.
"Where Science ends, Magic begins" -Spiral, Uncanny X-Men #491

Nope, different song. The Spooky Tooth song is from Spooky Two (there should be a version on Youtube)from '69, before Lynn had done anything at all, he hadn't even joined the Move yet. Its the same song played by Canned Heat if I remember correctly. There is of course also the Doobie Brothers song to, so there's plenty of songs with that name one could use, The Spooky Tooth one was simply the one I heard most recently.
And yes I am definitely a nerd when it comes to old rock etc. Did I mention that it can only really be enjoyed on vinyl |

Close my Eyes Forever by Lita ford for Kelemvor (I see him singing Ozzy's part)
Don't Pay the Ferryman by Chris de Burgh for Charon (okay, thats really Planescape)
Big Balls by AC/DC for Siamorphe
Octopus' Garden by the Beatles for Ilsensine (I was actually thinking Pyaray, but thats not a canon FR deity)
Burning Down the House by Talking Heads for Kossuth
Titanic theme for Istishia
Flight of the Valkyries by Wagner for akadi (Hey, I can do classical!)
Bark at the Moon for Selune is too obvious, my version is more like Hecate so I prefer Superstition
Judgement Day by Iron maiden for Tyr
Maxwell's Silver Hammer by the Beatles for Gond (not really relevant, but funny)
Walk this Way by Aerosmith is another I like for Shaundakul
Luck be a Lady by Sinatra for Tymora
Jinx by Green Day for Beshaba
Lightening's Hand by Kansas for Talos
Private Dancer by Tina Turner for Eilistraee
Seasons in the Sun for Szass Tam (strange choice, i know, but the lyrics seem relevant to me)
Tambourine Man is another choice I like for Finder (AFTER he remembered who he was)
Daughter of Darkness by Tom Jones for Shar (In my HB she is the daughter of Erebus)
Commentary for Jorkens: Great choices - sveral made me literally LOL (the Moander one is hysterical)
I don't see the relevancy of Dust in the Wind for Shaundakul though.
I'm a Kansas fan, and I think you may have meant Point of No Return? That would be a good choice for Valkur as well. Dust in the Wind is more of a Shar-thing (big-time Entropy thing going on there).
All of Kansas' songs are great inspiration for D&D, particularly off the Point of No Return album. |

I've not seen Weird Al or the Presidents mentioned yet...
The first time I saw the name Spooky Tooth, it was in the Glass Walker's Tribebook. When I later heard of the real band, I thought it was a joke! It was a few years before I found out they were a real band. |

Nice Quale - now you have me thinking of theme music for NPCs dependent on specific events
Last dance for Mary Jane by Tom Petty for Mystra (circa 1385)
Free Falling also by Tom Petty for Karsus
Don't come around here no more once again by Tom Petty for Larloch, after his final visit from Szass Tam

I know enough about classic music to appreciate that this song would actually be more appropriate for the Marraenoloth skeletal ferrymen on the River Styx. |
