Okay, so, some rather recent discussions both here and with the Lady K at home, have made me realise that I may have now reached the point on my legendary "To-Do List," where I've begun to *forget* just as much as I've remembered in terms of what's on that list.
See, it's only been over the last six or so months that I've actually made any attempt to keep a hard-copy of the list [not surprisingly, actively maintaining a printed copy of my "To-Do List" has been on the list for about two-to-three years ]. And since I'm really starting to make some serious head-way on what I remember from the pre-six month period of my "To-Do List," I've discovered that I'll likely need some help from my fellow scribes... help with remembering just what I've "promised" to add or tackle on my list over the last few years.
I'm not asking for any determined effort to go through some of my old scrolls/replies. But, if during your daily readings of new and/or old scrolls, any of you happen to come across some replies from me about what I've got on my "To-Do List," or what I've added or will be adding, or what's been [even though it's rare] completed, I'd appreciate you posting that here. Even if I haven't mentioned my "To-Do List" specifically -- if it's just something I've said I'll tackle, carry out, perform. Whether it be for the general functioning of Candlekeep, Realmslore-related stuff, other D&D-related material, or just about anything else [you all know how I like to ramble]... I want to see it here!
I know it's a rather "big and specifically broad" request, but as I said above, I'm not expecting an 'army of scribes' to tear through old and new scrolls alike, looking for what I might have said I'd do for someone or Candlekeep in the past. Just keep it in mind when your reading scrolls here. That's all I ask. And if you find a reference to my "To-Do List," post it here.
I'll add some temporary adhesive to this scroll for the time being, to keep it active in all our minds. I'll be doing my part as well, to find what I can, but I'd really appreciate any help any and all can provide. Oh, and there's no set time-limit to this. Think of it, simply, as something of a community-wide project that could, potentially, lead to me actually completing more than just a *few* of the things I can remember from the list.
...
Thanking you all very much in advance... The Sage of Perth.

To get the ball rolling, and to provide an example of what I'm hoping to achieve with this scroll:-

The article could still convey much Realmslore that way, and yet be immediately useful to a DM searching scrounging for his next session. Think of it as a type of 'Volo's Guide', telling a story AND giving us important info.
I've tinkered with a derivative of this idea -- here and there -- over the years. Basically, it boils down to my working on a "Current Clack" for Realms musical events:- bardic performances, minstrel tournaments, who is playing what and where, the "hot" performances and bards of the month, future scheduled concerts, bardic gatherings and so forth, and where the best musical venues are across the Realms.
A brief snapshot of this format was presented in the Realms-music submission for the printed DRAGON I offered years ago, and I've been quietly thinking about how and where to present a much more extended version, given the article's unlikely publication future.
It's the most recent reference, I know, but it serves to demonstrate what I'm talking about. |

1) speaking of changing Markustay's avatar you said you were gonna change yours...

3) and i think you said you were gonna convert all of my 1980's and 1990's PC's from ADnD 2ed to Pathfinder 3.75 (or was that one of MY to-do's?)

Much appreciated coach. That last one doesn't sound all that familiar, but it does remind me of something I would offer to help with.

Im not sure desperate is the right word....overworked...understaffed or just stuff piled to high and deep..thoase all might fit

Sage,
Since you asked, I'll remind you of SageDos affecting me personally first.
In the "Well Known" Realmspeak? scroll the following was said:quote: Originally posted by Kyrene
quote: Originally posted by The Sage
I don't have time to go through them now, but I'd already planned to sift through your list over the weekend.
I'll let you know how I go.
Was "over the weekend" meant in SageTime, or real time?
No worries though, Sage, as I planned to let this one simmer for at least a week or more, before perhaps escalating it to an "Ask Ed" question for whatever terms remained inconclusively cited, defined or confirmed.
quote: Originally posted by The Sage
I've not referenced your entire listing yet, but I have yet to discover any glaring errors with those I've looked up so far.
As for new terms you might find useful, I'm slowly compiling a listing [though, it's probably best to define that as SageTime] as I generally read through various and eclectic sources.
Progress to be updated.
I don't know if you were referring to the original "Well Known" list I asked about, or something broader. If it's the former, you could probably cross it off, as between Ed and Faraer I've managed to wittle it down to two outstanding terms remaining.
Then in the 4E Realmspeak? scroll the following was said:quote: Originally posted by Kyrene
quote: Originally posted by The Sage
quote: Originally posted by Kyrene
I don't have a DDI subscription myself, but would love for someone/s that does (I'm thinking not Sage as he's too 'timely', ...
I can certainly help out where possible, but I can't really dedicate a whole lot of time to this.
What I will do, is scour those PDFs myself, and see whether anything pertinent to your project here, has been missed. Okay?
Only if you have the time Sage! I'm sure between Tyranthraxus and I, we can do exactly what you propose (and possibly have faster results; not that I'm in much of a hurry for it anyway, just throwing out different 'lore lines' as it were) I'd much rather you concentrate on getting me that music related 'Realmspeak'...
quote: Originally posted by The Sage
Still on that... *wink*
Mr_Miscellany helped a lot with terms/phrases that are in the FRCG, but I'm still waiting for Tyranthraxus to get back to me concerning the "Eye on the Realms." I'd therefore not remove that from the SageDo list yet, as I may PM you still in that regard.
Also, in the original Realmspeak scroll the following was said:quote: Originally posted by The Sage
Kyrene, I may have some musical-related Realmspeak terms to add also, but I'll have to check my files first.
That one should probably have the highest priority, although might also take the longest to cross off the list.
So, it seems like it could be 3 (or 4) items on you SageDo list, which I hope this has helped remind you to do or discard. |

What I would like to see I would like to see fast-tracked (I am not sure that this is possible in SageTime) is the era-specific (NOT edition specific) question/answer only sub-shelves in the Realmslore shelf. Though things have seemed to have smoothed over for now, I think think this might help keep hostilities from rising quite so heatedly again. |

Ah, yes. There's still a few concerns I'd like to discuss with Alaundo, about this idea, before we go any further, though. |

I think the FAQ is a priority -- much stuff we take for granted, for instance about how the Realms came to be created and published, is unknown to a lot of people (as I occasionally get reminded at EN World).
It might be best as a community project, though, starting off by drafting the Qs. |

Ah. I've been on the FAQ for the last five years. It's largely finished, now. But it still totals around 40 or so pages [in PDF], which is rather "heavy" for my proposed Candlekeep's Guide to Forgotten Realms FAQ.
Also, I've engaged with both designers and prominent scribes here at Candlekeep, to ensure that the scope and capability of the FAQ I've composed, covers a broad enough range as possible, but without missing the "smaller stuff." I'll eventually want to open the project up to public commentary as well, likely here at Candlekeep, but that's still a way's off. |

Yes, you're on my list, too, but it's just another "To-Do" objective that I've not had the time to complete. Sorry Faraer.
And, besides, given your particular interests in some of the more specific areas of Realmslore, like terminology, historical aspects, and a few others, I wanted to tailor, slightly, the sections I sent to you first, so you could concentrate on those. Simply, I didn't want it to feel like I was off-loading the entirety of the project on your shoulders. |

This is by far one of the funniest post I have read. Only because I am the same kind of person as the Sage is, I lose my to-do lists, sometimes 30 minutes after I complete them. Oh this is funny. |

Yes, you're on my list, too, but it's just another "To-Do" objective that I've not had the time to complete.
