"All I want to know is, who put all these mother*** spiders on my mother*** flying carpet?"

Samuel L Jackson... he's da man.

I don't like Rob Shneider either, but for some reason I think giving him a bit part, as one of the townsfolk in a crowd, would work.

Picture it - the Zhents are about to attack, and a couple of Harpers and a small party of adventures is all that stands between the Zhent army and certain doom for the village...

Rob Schneider: "You can do it!"

It's so stupid, and so out of place, I think it would be funny as hell.

Got a new one - how about Gary Busey as Halaster? He's a pretty scarey dude.

Hmmm... now you have me considering black actors as Drow... not being racist - Star Trek was doing it with Klingons. Samuel L jackson would be great as one of the baenre' boys, or even that psionicist Drow, Jarlaxle's lieutenant.

But Will Smith would make an awesome Jarlaxle.

Actually, my thinking on Jackson as Jarlaxle was based on something I'd picked up from recent re-readings of Mace Windu [in the Attack of the Clones novelisation] and Jarlaxle [from Servant of the Shard]. Certain examples in those two books naturally made me think he'd be a decent fit for the infamous drow character.

I forgot about Windu! Good call.

Not a big SW fan - I'm more of a ST guy (and usually you are one OR the other).

Still, I think we've already gone at least a billion over budget with just the payroll.

I tend to have a foot each in both camps. Yes, 'tis unusual, but I generally enjoy both franchises.

And that's just the cast... don't forget we need to pay the crew too...

Playing in the Realms since the Old Grey Box (1987)... and *still* having fun with material published before 2008, despite the NDA'd lore.

If it's comparable in power with non-magical abilities, it's not magic.

Yep, that is the biggest problem. Some actors just ask too much money for appearance in movies, so they take cheaper ones.

Yeah, like we'd be able to work all of these characters into one two-hour movie...

long time lurker new member and late to the party :)

I think triple H would be a good wulfgar or maybe Rob Terry. I also think Luke Goss (hellboy 2) would make a good Drizzt

Wulfgar should be young and muscular. And Drizzt should be of normal drow height.

That reminds me: Will they use the same trick like in LotR to make people seem like they are of different height?

From Before:
Ian Mckellen: Elminster
Chris Walken: Halaster Blackcloak
Robert Downey Jr.: Khelben Blackstaff
Bill Nighy: Gromph Baenre

War of the Spider Queen:
Stuart Townsend: Pharaun Mizzrym.
Kate Beckinsale: Aliisza
Ron Perlman: Ryld
James Marsters: Kaanyr Vhok
?? hmm: Quenthel Baenre
Keira Knightly: Triel Baenre
Angelina Jolie: Halistra Melarn

@Sill Alias: I imagine they would, but this is really just a mental exercise where we pick actors who would do a good job portraying a character, as from what I understand, no FR movie is in production, or will be in the near future. =/

Height doesn't matter so much, because with CGI you can most anything (look at Harry Potter of LotR).

I might be inclined to agree that triple 'H' is getting too old for the part. I haven't watched pro-wrestling in years so i couldn't offer a younger substitute. Guys like Randy Savage and the Ultimate Warrior are more from my time, and all those guys are way too old (although those two would have been PERFECT in their younger days - Wulfgar is 7' tall!)

Aye. You brought up Bacon back on the second page.

And I still think he'd make for an interesting Artemis Entreri.

What about John Lithgow?

Damn fine actor, and he's done everything form comedy to a psycho - I can think of a dozen parts he'd be right for.

Arnold Schwrts-whatever as the guy Wulfgar beats up to become chief.

Heafstaag, former leader of the northern Tribe of the Elk.

Edit: At the same time, let's not forget about the portrayal of deities, namely if a film about the Time of Troubles ever comes into the works. Here are my ideas.

For live appearances of deities -
Bane: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
Bhaal: Steward Townsend, Callum Blue, or Steve Buscemi
Cyric: Stewart Townsend, Hank Azaria, or Topher Grace
Helm: Michael Rosenbaum
Ilmater: John Shea
Myrkul: Michael Emerson
Mystra: Unknown
Torm: Kevin Sorbo
Tyr: Sir Anthony Hopkins
Tymora: Lady Gaga

Voice-over roles if deities are animated -
Bane: Kevin Michael Richardson, Tony Todd, or David Kaye
Bhaal: Alec Willows
Cyric: Hank Azaria
Helm: Michael Rosenbaum
Myrkul: Frank Welker
Mystra: Grey DeLisle or Heidi Shannon
Torm: Peter Cullen or Kevin Sorbo
Tymora: Melissa Disney
Tyr: Jim French

I can only see Helm as a young Terence Stamp though that's mostly just because of his performance in 'The Limey' (i.e. the man who does that which is right, whether or not it happens to be smart or 'good'). Although, I must say, Terence Stamp now however, actually reminds me of Eltargrim.

As much as I can't stand her, how about Demi Moore for the Red Knight? I think she has just enough testosterone for the part.

Who's going to play Jak Fleet? For some reason I keep picturing the guy who played Frodo, but thats been done, so....

Too bad Michael Jackson's dead... he'd have made a helluva Sojourner.
