Edwin Odesseiron from BG is LE in the game Baldur's gate 2 and CE in the manual. And I don't remember his alignment from the first BG. So, what do you think about him? Is he lawful or chaotic? Or maybe neutral?
He is Lawful Evil character. Think about it. He gave his word that he will give reward, but he did not say what it will be, so he used this slip to pay you nothing except for his services. About his ramblings... I think it is his fantasies. But lawful does not mean they cannot lie. They just have their own code and ideas about society.
