I read about her in the Forgotten Realms wiki. She is such an interesting character. Where can I read about her?

She appears in several of Greenwoods novels, but mostly in single scenes or as a minor character. Elminster in Hell would probably be the novel that features her the most. There is also the Simbuls Gift, but thats one of the few older novels I have not read, so I cant say anything about it.
What you should try to get hold of is the Seven Sisters supplement for 2nd. ed. This is the best source both for the Simbul and her sisters. |

. . . and I know we'll see her in future Ed fiction. Just look at the WotC catalogue copy for ELMINSTER MUST DIE! (forthcoming, this August, and finished with Ed hard at work on a sequel, so we should see it on schedule).
I asked Ed, and he replied:

The Blurb in the catalogue says she is addicted to 'Magic Items' and that El's stash of them is running out. 
Thats scarey an Archmage/Chosen Detoxing. 
I wonder what she would do for her next 'fix'.  |

The Simbul's Gift is the only novel so far in which she has the role of the primary protagonist. It does a wonderful job of developing her through her character rather than focusing entirely upon her power. There is a fair amount of introspection from the point of view of a character who has lived centuries, loved and lost, and who is rendered lonely by her power, by the fear of it, and by the ever present threat of her enemies. The theme centers around the concept that while she herself is powerful her enemies can harm her far more deeply by striking the vulnerable people she cares for.
Silverfall features her along with the other sisters, in a series of linked novellas. In her particular story, Wizard Hunting Season we see her depicted moreso in terms of her magical might, combat prowess, and clever cunning in seeking revenge on a trio of Red Wizards and in turn uncovering a far greater web of plots.
The Simbul also appears in Shandril's Saga, the Elminster series, and the Avatar Trilogy--among others. However in many of these stories she is either a supporting character or a brief cameo. As previously noted, Elminster in Hell and Elminster Must Die are probably the best options, though it would be best to read the entirety of Ed Greenwood's written works.
The Seven Sisters (2E), The Code of the Harpers (2E), the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting(3E) and Dreams of the Red Wizards (1E) are probably the best RPG sources on her, in that order. There is also a sidebar detailing her fate in the 4E FR Campaign Guide, and a Paragon Path (Simbarch of Aglarond) and ritual (Simbul's Conversion) in the FR Player's Guide, however the lore there is sparse.
I would definately reinforce the previous suggestion of obtaining/reading The Seven Sisters AD&D 2E accessory if nothing else.
P.S. I really cringe when browsing the wikipedia entries for many FR subjects, and the FR Wikia in some cases as well. They have a strong tendency for misinterpretation, distortions, outdated info, narrow focus, or outright fan-created BS. Go with what lore is published, if you can get your hands on such tomes. |

I believe it said feeding her magic items is the only thing that keeps her sane. However blurbs can be taken out of context, or only mirror a minor part of the initial plot (see the blurb for Silverfall for an example). Ed seemed to imply as much when responding to a quote of the preview blurb, at least as far as I can tell.
I would like to note that the Simbul had virtually "unlimited" magic items stashed in caches all over Faerun and other planes in previous editions of the game (see Seven Sisters, Code of the Harpers, etc) so this may be a way of eliminating those resources for 4E given that NPCs rarely need/use magic items.
Hopefully if the Simbul wins the D&D Creature Competition we can get an adventure where the PCs have to go out and acquire some magic items for Elminster so that the Simbul can absorb their essence...or else she might lose control of her power and engulf Shadowdale in a tempest of silver-blue flames. |
