Hi everybody!
Finally I'm back again on this forums! Just a question in case I missed something about the tGHotR entry about the Helm-Tyr affair...
I'm currently reading Fractured Sky... and I read how Tauran explains things about the quarrel quite differently than in GH:
tGHotR: - is a Siamorphe - Tyr quarrel
in tFS: - the quarrel is because Illmater removes herself from the Triad and there are troubles with her succession! Helm sponsoring Siamorphe and Tyr sponsoring Tymora ... both probably for "personal"(love?) reasons.
I must admit I've yet to finish the book... but I couldn't wait for asking!!
Am I wrong? Missing something? Has this topic already been discussed elsewhere?
Thanks in advance!

Edit: First, welcome back, Arioch!
According to the GHotR, Ilmater doesn't remove himself from the Triad until after Helm's death... it looks like we have more "revisionist history" 4E going on...
Edit: But then, as Ed says, the actions of the gods are recorded as interpreted by mortals, and this difference of perspective in interpretation can always cause problems. This is why we don't have a specific canonical date for the Dawn Cataclysm, which irritates me enough that I'm contemplating retconning it out of my Realms altogether.
Edit: Still, I can applaud Mr. Reid for trying to make the whole thing make sense, however futile an effort that may be; I won't read the trilogy because I refuse to have anything to do with the divine soap opera that leads up to the Spellplague. The Spellplague itself, I have far fewer problems with than I had when I first read the end of the GHotR; see my Alternate Spellplague scroll in Realms Events (http://forum.candlekeep.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12870) for my version of the Spellplague. |
Playing in the Realms since the Old Grey Box (1987)... and *still* having fun with material published before 2008, despite the NDA'd lore.
If it's comparable in power with non-magical abilities, it's not magic. |

Ok... Reading the IIIrd book of the trilogy there is another difference between it and tGHotR:
- tGHotR: "Tymora accompanies Tyr back to the House of the Triad. Though nothing can be proved, the gods sense the hand of Cyric in Helm’s death"
- The Crystal Mountain: "... in light of Cyric's manipulations, Tymora cannot be certain of what is real and what is contrived between Tyr and her, and she is departing to spend time in contemplation..."
I agree with the fact that what in tCM can be an elaboration of the tGHotR statement... and in the first case it seems there are no proofs against Cyric, in the second his guilt is quite certain.
There are other scroll detailing more observations like these?
@Jakk: I've seen your Alternate Spellplague scroll, I'll post there my comments to it! And... here http://forum.candlekeep.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=11771 my version of the SpellPlague... But I think I'm going to change it very soon. |
