Rosemary posted this link in her scroll, but I wanted to start a thread with this as the topic because I believe that the FR authors need all the support we can give them. I am not sure what prize or award Miss Jones will receive if she wins or makes the final list but any recognition of a FR author will, in the end, support all of them and make the realms a richer place.
I suspect that Rosemary wouldn't toot her own horn in this regard, but if anyone has read City of the Dead and would like to make a ripple in the pond, go here and list her book in the comments section. She got nominated to be on a list with some fantastic authors, so show some support.
edit: sorry I forgot to mention this. This is a poll about what author would you recommend as a "Gateway" author for someone to interest them in the fantasy genre. LOTS of great authors up there

Red Walker just made me laugh with that post.
If anyone wants the bookplate for City of the Dead, just let me know. Details at my website www.rosemaryjones.com. Anyone who posts at Candlekeep automatically qualifies for a free bookplate. And I do mail everywhere.

I threw in my vote. |
Anyone who likes to read something that's really dark and gritty and completely awesome ought to read The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks. You can check out a little taste at www.BrentWeeks.com I should probably warn you, though, that it is definitely not PG-13 :-D
He also started a new Trilogy with Black Prism, which may even surpass the Night Angel Trilogy in its awesomeness.

I voted, and not just because Rosemary is a great author, but also because I really think her writing is a good way to snag people into the genre.
Cheers |

Thanks all and no need to let loose the shrubbery.
Another great way you can support your favorite authors is to post reviews at on-line booksellers. Ask your local bookstore to stock a few Realms titles (everyone needs at least one Ed Greenwood or Erik Scott de Bie on their fantasy shelves) or suggest FR books to your library.
Or join James down south or me in the Northwest in our stealth campaign to "turn out" our FR authors/friends on the book shelves. That's when you go into a big chain bookstore on your lunch hour and hunt through the FR shelf to find your favorite authors and make their books sit "face out" on the shelf. Of course, I've got so many favorites that half FR shelf is periodically going "face out" at my local Borders.
Best wishes all, Rosemary

Got it as well as your lovely hand written note! Such a nice touch
Although, when I got home my wife said "I'm sorry, you have a letter on the desk"...when I asked her why she was sorry, she said it was because she did not look to see it was addressed to me and opened it. I said no big deal, but she said uhhhh..well it's something about you being welcomed into the city of death and beware the shrubery...whatever that means.
