By the way, feel free to start chatting up my character. He is gets distracted quite a bit, but he is paying attention for the most part. He just not a highly knowledgable person in nature like you tree hugers! I kid of course. Who knows he might know things certain peoples may not?
And Ashe, thanks for the heads up on the color text issue. Forgot to thank earlier. |

My gods, those are some tall characters!
And if you want my char to change the subject, just tell her to find something else to talk about. :) |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

It is all good, Kuje. Actually I'm just waiting on others to share first before I jump in. After I'm done with some things I'll be more talkitive. My lore is etchy just before the ToT so I'm listening to what you guys bring up and work off from that. :) |

I gotta head to class for about four or five hrs today, so I won't post again until sometime around 8 or 9 PM Eastern.
So can't wait for spring break next week. :)
See ya's later! |

Hmm... just to make sure... elves of the Realms are of Tolkien height, right? So 6'2" while tall isn't like *freakishly* tall. At least, I hope not! |

I dunno... IIRC King Zaor was described as a "giant," but wasn't much above six feet. |
Doggedly converting 3e back to what D&D should be... Sigh... And now 4e as well. |

I'm going to step away for a few myself and have dinner and catch up with my family that's here. I shouldn't be as distracted or absent tonight as I was last night. At least, I hope not! |

True. And isn't Starbrow around six and a half feet in height? |

Usually, as far as I remember, they are about human height. Even 6 feet for humans is a bit taller then average. :) |

Just to ask a question of you veteran PbPers, am I typing too often and should I keep my character's thoughts to myself or does it really matter? I figured since we had lurkers they might want to know a glimpse of what our character's thoughts are.
Oh and I enjoy it so far! Very intriguing! |

I don't think you're typing too often.
The only thing I'd recommend is that if you're going to respond to multiple entries, put it altogether in a single post instead of replying to each one. |
I actually DO know everything. I just have a very poor index of my knowledge.

Indeed, that's what I've been trying to do when I see a few different posts directed at me. :) |

Actually, one of the things I like most about pbp is that you get a chance to see inside the character's head. Trust me, I've playing in pbp games where all people do is post the character's words and actions, and ones where they add thoughts and feelings as well, and the former are really, really boring. Much better to give a wholistic view.
Plus, it's helpful to you. I know that I barely know who Nagrath is, and in writing what goes on "behind the curtain" of his head it allows me to get a better grasp of the character. |

I missed this. I played my first games during the twilight of 2e. Would you be willing to take on one more aimless adventurer?
No problem. We'll likely open up another game using the module "Haunted Halls of Eveningstar" or "Doom of Daggerdale". Please keep on sending me your character ideas and sheets.
Sounds good, I will keep an eye on this thread for developments on upcoming games. |

Thanks for the input guys, it is a great help. Looks like we stalled some for a little bit, but on a side note I think the group will work pretty good with one another. It will be interesting to see what happens though when we hit the open road. I'm half wondering who this 'prominent' man of Shadowdale is? If it is Elminister or another Chosen, though I'm doubting but I'll be surprised if one of them does show, would be very interesting. I don't think I ever played a session where any of the chosen were introduced...eh, I take that back. I met Khelban two times with two different characters. One got at least to meet him and talk with him, but it was rather...harsh in his speaking. The other I was a Watch detective from Waterdeep and I had a note from Pairgaron (sp?) to get spelled up to fight a cleric of Cyric and his very powerful body guard to save someone I needed for the Cloak and Dagger we were having in the City of Splendors.
Well, rambled there a bit, anyways I wonder what is going to happen next? Any ideas? Who do you think it is we are going to meet? |

Ghost King, would you mind if we referred to your character by his last name "Myrthul" or "Myrth"? That would avoid the confusion of having two Vals. |

Just to make sure, these are your primary melee weapons :
Cyreela - Quarterstaff Keldon Noras - Quarterstaff Lithôniel - Sword, bastard Nagrath - Sword, short Valak Myrthul - Longsword Valthorin - Longsword

That's correct for me.
Also, I was wondering if we could post what everyone's race is? I looked earlier but it wasn't clear to me what everyone's race was....... |

Myrthul, Myrth, or just Myr are fine. I would prefer Myr or Myrthul, but I'll let people in character call him what they wish.
Edit: Yup, I use the longsword. |

I was thinking along the lines of Mourngrym Amcathra being the important guy, or one of his lackeys. |

These are the spells that I know are currently memorized:
Keldon - Magic Missile, Nahal's Reckless Dweomer Valthorin - Sleep
If you're a caster and are not on the list, let me know. |

The longsword is correct for me as well. Also, how many spells are we allowed to start off with in our spellbooks? I'm wanting to give my full list, but am uncertain as to the number allowed. Also, do you use any house rules, Barshevy? Anything like, "You may cast cantrip, read/write magic, and detect magic each once per day," or anything like that? |
