Has anyone got a copy of, used or reviewed this product?

Is it any good? and how compatible is it with 3.5 realms?

Do not try to understand the 4th edition. Thats impossible. Instead...only try to realise the truth. There is no 4th edition.

I've tried it out, and it's *very* detailed. The problem is that each sourcebook has it's own database file that you have to download and install. And once you get it all installed, expect to be eat a LOT of memory while running and, as a result, run VERY slow. My Inspiron laptop is a higher-end machine that I have no problems with until I open RPGXplorer.

The program is good, and it does what it promises by making everything referenced available to create your characters, items, cohorts, familiars, etc. But you have to be willing to trade the processing power for the availability.

As a rule, I use my laptop during the game and like to have everything 'on the fly', as it were (subcribed to d20srd.org just for the local copy of the site). And RPGXplorer doesn't work well in this regard. But if all you're going to use it for it to update your character sheets once a week, it's worth the money.

(Of course, the fact that they have 3.5, Paizo and 4E rulesets doesn't hurt either).

I actually DO know everything. I just have a very poor index of my knowledge.

-What is it? A character builder/adventure builder type program?

Yes, it's a character builder and campaign management software built off XML databases. They charge money only for the original software and SRD ruleset, but you can find fan-built rulesets for most published sourcebooks out there.

Not from RPGXplorer directly. You would have to get the updates from whomever created the ruleset you're using.

Paizo has released the ruleset for Pathfinder directly, so you'd be able to get updates done right from them.
