To the extent of my knowledge and memory, "Obdurium" was made for the 3.0 Stronghold Builder's Guide, and it's identical to adamantine, except that it has more hp and hardness. It's suitable as a building material for the stupidly weathy, but for armor or weapons, there's little benefit.

I don't believe it caught on, because I haven't really seen any other references to it since the book, and none in the 3.5/4th Editions.

quote:
Treat weapons and armor crafted from obdurium as adamantine, except for hardness(30), hit points (60 per inch of thickness, or twice as many hit points for a typical item) and price (twice the listed price for adamantine). HP: 60/inch of thickness. Break DC: 48+4/inch of thickness.

One usually has far more to fear from the soft-spoken wizard with a blade and well-worn boots than from the boisterous one in the ivory tower.

Considering the source it was most likely intended for use as a building component moreso than for personal weaponry.

My latest Realms-based short story, about a bard, a paladin of Lathander and the letter of the law, Debts Repaid. It takes place before the "shattering" and gives the bard Arion a last gasp before he plunges into the present.http://candlekeep.com/campaign/logs/log-debts.htm
