Would the Shadowstorm from Paul Kemp's latest trilogy be considered a RSE even though it is primarily in/around Sembia?

-I would classify it a RSE (Regional Shaking Event) but not a RSE (Realms Shaking Event). Note, this decision was made on a very slim margin. Things that happen because of the Shadowstorm do have consequences for all of Faerūn, and even the rest of the cosmology. The Umbral Calyx, for example, is now over Sembia, instead of being on the Plane of Shadows. However things resolve themselves with Mephistopheles will resolve themselves. With the changes to Sembia's government, there will be repercussions on surrounding nations, in terms of refugees (as depicted in Paul's excellent short story in Realms of War, "Continuum"), a new political "map of influence" in the area, and other factors.
-All of that, as it stands now, anyway. There may be revelations in the last book that changes this, and turns it into an obvious RSE (Realms Shaking Event) as opposed to an RSE (Regional Shaking Event). |

I do hope the last book turns it into a realms shaking event. Something that really excited me about the series was the blurb on the first book: On the edge of a war that will change the face of Faerun, the world will find that not all shadows serve Shade.
I interpreted this as the conflict between Mask and Shar getting some spotlight, and Mask getting some respect (I didn't like it that he was the buttmonkey in Crucible). I hope I'm not wrong. |

-Well, regardless of what exactly happens, the conclusion of the trilogy will explain why Mask doesn't appear as deity in the FRCG/FRPG, that much is certain. |
