Hi There, hope someone can help me. In Auroras Whole realms catalogue, Booms Garden is mentioned as the supplier of some items. Off the top of my head, its described as a gnomish warehouse, but is there a canon answer as to where it is?

Thanks

Alex

I don't think Boom's Garden was ever mentioned outside of the Catalog. It's something of an in-joke, anyway; the name comes from one of TSR's folks at the time, Karen Boomgarden.

Interesting... I don't remember that bit...

Might I ask which entry that was under?

It's on pg. 90 of the aforementioned tome.

That section kinda makes me wonder... It's a joke about one of TSR's staffers, but includes drow swimwear and armored undies. Was that just a convenient section for odd stuff, or were they joking about Karen Boomgarden's wardrobe?

Well, I recall this bit from Steven:- "... whitesmithed decorative armor and 'naughty' drow swimwear et al was sold at Boom's Garden in Waterdeep (a thinly veiled reference to former FR editor Karen Boomgarden)."

The phrase "thinly veiled" does suggest some level of legitimacy regarding this particular reference.

Most likely she was the 'office hotty'.

Mayhaps, but I'd expected that there would be more to it. They basically linked her to armored undies -- which includes, in two separate entries, the components to make a chain mail bikini.

Making that kind of connection just because she was the office hotty could be considered a form of sexual harassment, after all. Yeah, she is credited in the book, but still... That's why I'm thinking there's some joke there.

Its only sexual harrassment if it is un-solicited attention.

Perhaps her normal attire called certain... illusions... to mind.

Or maybe, as you say, there is a deeper joke there (like she wore a chainmail bikini to the office halloween party, and never lived it down).

Either way, it appears to have been all in good fun.

Oh, I'd certainly expect that it was in good fun. I'm just saying I think there's more to it than the offered suggestion that she was the office hottie.

Probably. It might be worthwhile asking Ed about this. He may have some input to offer that we've not heard about before.
