I noticed on Markus Tay's Stonelands map that he has written down Gully Dwarves in the Sunset Mountains...is this for real? How did they get there?

'Tis been a long while since I've researched any kind of lore on the Sunset Mountains. But this doesn't immediately ring any Realmslore-styled bells. Perhaps this is something Markus himself dropped in, to spice up the lore somewhat? |

I'm pretty sure that with the exception of a single kender, no member of Krynn's unique races has been to Toril. |

I seem to recall some Tinker Gnomes being abandoned on Nimbral at the end of the second Spelljammer novel. |

Heh. I only just recently re-read Into the Void. I don't think it was ever clearly defined what happened to the remaining Tinker Gnomes that were part of the "Probe's" crew. Some died, but a few may have been uncounted for. So it's a possibility at least that some were left in Rauthaven. |

I got you!
HA HA HA HA!!! <evil-villain laugh>
Anauroch, Pg. 39, The Strange and the Unknown -
quote: Desert Wildlife is little known to outlanders, and new forms are being discovered constantly. There are even rumours that a magical gate has been opened in the northern sword, linking Faerūn with the world of Krynn: adventurers have reported meeting with hatori, horax, skrits, and tylors there.
Not everything I write is canon, but it is ALWAYS based on something I read somewhere.
Add to that I was researching Oghrann; a fallen Dwarven Empire that once occupied that entire 'bowl' of the Tunlands, including the two mountain ranges that encompass it (the Stormhorns and the Sunset Mountains). I read in one place (A Grand Tour of the Realms, pg. 125) that the survivors trade in the Far Hills. Then I read in another (trying to locate that source ATM) that they fell on 'hard times' toward the end of their civilization.
So, I figure that there are indeed 'Gully Dwarves' living in that region, buuuut... they are not neccessarily the same exact ones that live in Krynn. They could be the last, pitiful survivors of Oghrann, or thanks to that nearby portal, they could be interlopers from Krynn, or perhaps some mixture of both.
Either way, there are some not-so-nice, not-so-smart Dwarves in the region, and the term 'Gully Dwarf' fit them, weather you want them to be tied to Krynn or not.
