I've heard about this group on several occasions, but never anything I can remember as being 'official'.

As I recall, they are supposed to be ladies of the evening (what do they call them in the Realms, 'Loosecoin Lasses', I think?) who are all werecats and servants of Selune and Sharess. They dwell in the large cities and look after the non-felinothropic 'working girls', protecitng them and the other poor folk from various horrors and cults that seek to prey on them.

Presumably they'd have enemies in some of the wererat cultists of Talona who also live in such poor places, spreading their Mistress's touch to those least able to protect themselves from it.

That's what I can recall, anyway. Is this all unofficial material, or is any of it actually from Ed and other Realms authors?

And have any of you ever used the group and its members in adventures, stories, or campaigns?

Thanks all.

They're mentioned in the first volume of the Realms Bestiary by Eric L. Boyd and Thomas M. Costa, which is unofficial (though some parts of it did later become official). It mentions the Eyes of the Evening being active in the Lands of Intrigue, so that would be the next place to look, thinks I.

Hmmm... I don't immediately recall any specific reference to the Eyes in any previously published Realmslore. I'm inclined to think this may actually be a referenced generated by Tom specifically for this entry in the Bestiary.

I think they're mentioned somewhere in either Faiths & Avatars (under Selune) or Powers & Pantheons (under Sharess). One of the players' characters in my last campaign played a werecat member of the EotE.

That's right.

*sound of Sage slapping his forehead*

They're in the entry for Sharess.

I have to say I like this concept, even if it's unofficial.

"Instead of asking why we sleep, it might make sense to ask why we wake. Perchance we live to dream. From that perspective, the sea of troubles we navigate in the workaday world might be the price we pay for admission to another night in the world of dreams."

Thanks, and yes, but only because I don't know what you'd call a specifially feline therianthrope/lycanthrope.

I do too. I'd love to see something involving Selunite werewolves and the Eyes of Evening against wererats of Talona/Shar.

I looked at P&P again myself, and they get a brief mention in the temples chapter when they talk about Selune's temple in Waterdeep.

I think that simple "felanthrope" would probably be the best form, from felis + anthropos ("cat-human").

Well... The werecat entry in Volume 1 of the Realms Bestiary (linked above) already has something similar:

quote:
Most of these shapeshifting cats are followers of Selūne, goddess of the moon, several of whom, such as Feluna Moonstar of Waterdeep, serve her further as clerics or as members of the Knights of the Half Moon. The number of werecats is fairly small in the City of Splendors. Nevertheless, they work tirelessly to eradicate the wererats in the Waterdeep’s sewers and the neighboring Rat Hills.
A secretive sisterhood of werecats based somewhere in the Lands of Intrigue and known as the Eyes of the Evening serves the goddesses Sharess and Selūne, though their exact aims remain unknown. They are rumored to hunt cultists of Shar and Loviatar during the nights of the full moon.

I used the Knights of the Half Moon angle in my write-up for my first Lords of Waterdeep article. Terielle Nashirn is a werecat priestess of Selūne, and she's also a member of the Knights of the Half Moon. One of the things that got her noticed by the Lords was when she stopped a wererat worshipper of Talona who planned to unleash a plague on Waterdeep.
