I posted this on the WotC boards as well...

Anyone done this yet? Anyone have a map of what they would suggest?

TIA

I've not been looking at Loudwater, but I don't think it would be too hard. The geography fits, with the Greypeaks being the home for Thunderspire Labrynth and the Parimid of Shadows in either the High Forest or the Southwood. As for a map., I'd just use the FR Atlas, as given the brief information we have in the FRCG, it doesn't look like that area has changed too much.

My question is what are you planning to do with the history of the Thunderspire Labynth and the fact that it's was originally a city built by minotaurs? Given that the Realms have really never had much in the way of intellegent/civilized minotaurs, this is a probblem I've been thinking about. You could just ignore the minotaur history, but I kinda like the concept.

FYI - I've also been looking at locations for H1-H3 other than the Coryrean sites in the WotC conversions. I'm looking at placing H1 in the Dagger Hills and H2 north of Daggerfalls in the Desertmouth Mountains. That way, the tunnels would link with the Mines of Tethamyr, the drow living under Shadowdale, and a previously undiscovered Durgar community living noth of Thinderspire also in the Desertmouth Mountains. H3 would end up being located in the Border Forest.

To be honest, I hadn't really thought about it. I was going to look for an area that minotaurs had a presence in and put H2 there. Not using H1, as we used it as a test run.

Any suggestions on plan "B", or perhaps another race to replace minotaurs w/?

I just like Loudwater as a base of operations in the new FRCG.

If you don't want to use minotaurs, maybe you could use ogres. Perhaps an offshott of the ancient ogres that once rulled in the Thar. They were intellegent and built cities and roads.

Personally I like the idea of civilized minotaurs ala Dragonlance. It's just the the FR minotaurs have never been described that way. Perhaps some ancient civilization (Netheril?) used minotaur slaves to build the city and after they died off, the bulls continued to run the place for a while. I'd have to give it more thought, but that type of explaination could be workable.

I believe this thread is the only one dealing with the both Shadowfell & Thunderspire adventures FR conversions.

I've just finished to read them and I still wonder who or what are Zaamdul (from the palace of Zaamdul) and Grimmerzhul (a duergar I think...).

Thanks a lot.
