As prep/inspiration-gathering for a possible game set in prehistoric Faerun, I was going through Grand History of the Realms and one entry jumped out at me - that the Citadel of the Raven was apparently built in -11,000 DR (or was it -18,000? The book's upstairs) and some loremasters believe it's evidence of an ancient, advanced human civilization.
My question is this - is there any more information about this hypothetical culture anywhere else? If not, has there been any speculation about it? I'm thinking of using it, and some of Gray Richardson's ideas of old, as the basis of the campaign, so I'm curious how much canon or fanon there is to rely on. Help me!

The only canonical human civilization presented that far back in FR were the ones that lived under the Draconic Overlords (as did certain groups of Elves). What little we have to go on appears in the Realms of the Elves anthology, but I'm not near my sources so I can't find the name of the exact short-story for you.
Not all of the Draconic 'Kings' were evil, and some were actually loved by their subjects, and it stands to reason that some humans would have taken the gift of civilization with them when their dracionic masters fell.
It also stands to reason that these burgeoning human proto-civilizations all fell as a direct result of the Sundering, and very little evidence remains of them. Humans were effectively 'nuked' back into the stoneage for another 10,00 years or so because of the Elves meddling.
At least thats my take, based on what little we have to go on in canon (including that short-story I mentioned above). |

also I imagine Talfir much older, with many ups and downs, before the article on Ironfang Keep I thought it was theirs |

-I tried to find that thread over their (WotC Boards) about how the Moonsea was formed but I could not find it.
