I noticed this quote on WotC's Gen Con report and was wondering if anyone knows what it really means.
quote: "The Sword Never Sleeps (November 2008, Ed Greenwood), involving the means of moving into the new Forgotten Realms… changed. "
I am really looking forward to the next "Knights of Myth Drannor" book and I don't see why there would be any 4e references in it. I was a third into James Wyatt's Dragon Forge when 4e raised it's scaly breasts and it just took me out of the story. I put the book back on my shelf, maybe later I'll go back to it.
I really don't want to have this happen with The Sword Never Sleeps. I really wish they would designate which novels are 4e and which are not.

The quote is somewhat... incomplete.
What Ed said at the seminar was that the novel will provide attentive readers with a device for taking their favorite characters--if somewhat changed--into the time of the Fourth Edition Realms. |

Yes, Garen has the right of it! Ed is trying to provide plausible scenarios for you to be able to continue the characters you have likely spent years with, and are not ready to give up. I believe somewhere Ed stated that was one of the things he didn't like about the timejump and since Wotc provided no device to continue characters...he was working on a few things. That is by no means a direct quote.
It is very cool that Ed is able to and is revealing some of these in his novel!!

Hmmm... Makes me wonder if the blurb in the FRCG with ways to bring your old characters into the new setting was written by Ed. |
I actually DO know everything. I just have a very poor index of my knowledge.

Oh good, I have been looking for more on the Knights of Myth Drannor since I first opened the grey boxed set and it is looking like this book will be the last Forgotten Realms book I ever buy, especially since I own all the other books
The only bad thing is that I was hopeful we might see a collection of short stories on the Knights so we could learn more about the younger knights as well. |
