I'm just a player trying to do some homework before the game. Any help would be appreciated!
I'm looking for information on the societies of the Bloodstone Lands more specifically, Vassa. I'm really wondering about the races of people; but any help with religion, currency, classes, culture, flavor of the land, etc. would be wonderful!!

Well, if you can get your hands on FR9-The Bloodstone Lands, which can be bought in electronic form from Paizo and other assorted merchants, that will get you a long way.

If you don't mind straying a bit from canon, I can certainly recommend the Northern Journey campaign, in particular its Book 7 "Bloodstone", all of which can be very conveniently downloaded from our good old Candlekeep: http://www.candlekeep.com/campaign/nj_main.htm .

Hi, lovely Rinonalyrna.
I would add that to your question :

ClearlyPixelated,
What type of sources do you wait us to quote ?
source books, novels, websites ?
About source books, if you had the good ones, you would not ask for it, would you ?
I don't know if I write in the good way what I really mean...

- Come and have a look at the already asked questions from the Forgotten Realms Trivia Challenge

I am a French FR fan, so please forgive my lapses in English language and do not hesitate to correct me. Thanks a lot.

It also depends on what era/edition you are playing in. 3e = fairly empty wasteland with a couple of small settlements and large numbers of roving monster-types, obstensibly governed by Damara, but not exactly ruled over.

In 4e, the place is ruled by the despotic Warlock Knights of Vassa.

Speaking of which, I ask about those in another thread - I can't get any of them to open (although I downloaded them with no problem). The other Northern Journey ones I had no problem with, but all of the Bloodstone ones are giving me this problem.

Anyone have any ideas? I get an error message about an 'incompatible' or 'unrecognizable' compression format. This is a new one on me - anyone else have this trouble?

Update your WinZip, I'd say. Or uninstall it totally -- I no longer bother with it, myself.

I always thought that Vaasa would be a good place to run 'Secret of the Silver Blades'. The Dragonspines seem a little too metropolitan, while the northern tip of the West Galena mountains is isolated enough to house Verdigris.

And afterwards, you'd be able to have some adventures on the Great Glacier.

I don't mean to do that on purpose. Statisically, though, any given person is more likely to be playing 3E or 4E than any of the previous editions. Also, "3E or 4E" is quicker to type than "pre-Spellplague or Post-Spellplague?"

Hope that makes sense.

YMMV, but I've never viewed the Dragonspines as anything close to metropolitan.

You've got the Barbarians of the Ride on one side and the Zhent controlled fortresses on the other. Phlan is pro bably the closest city and that's still close to 100 miles SE of the far eastern end of the range. Other than New Verdigris from SotSB computer game, I don't know of any settlements actually in the Dragonspines.

Metropolitan might have been the wrong word. The feeling I got from the game was that you were waaay isolated, whereas the Dragonspines are definitely within the Pale of Civilization, with the Zhents operating throughout the mountains.

Then again, given how many Zhents I killed in that game, I guess it's not outside the realm of sanity.
